Sounds like Steele is on the hot seat

Look we're all full of opinions and way we comprehend or breakdown what people are saying in interviews it doesn't matter we know the reality is the defense needs to show up big time the leap is much bigger the gap is huge,

we're bringing back the same offense, and the reality is yes, the weak spot is both tackles I don't want to hear how Guyton's improved either..

he's saying that but I watched him pretty much nearly shut down Myles Garrett in game one a couple years back and did a really good job about it, but his problem is inconsistencies, injuries, he gets mentally checked out he's like the new Mo Claiborn, You know a first round talent have all the talent in the world and yet the injuries in his mental makeup just couldn't keep himself on track..

So yes,

we're all worried about the tackles,

but again we're more worried about the defense I think we saw what our offense can do last year the same offenses here this year and I'm hoping Adams can finds a good mix but I don't think Steel is on the hot seat There's nobody here to replace him..

Will agree they do need to bring in a veteran long reliever type to be the swing tackle just in case I don't think they're going to replace the starters to begin the season no matter how the rest of the preseason goes.

So this is what I'm hearing I don't think they trust either tackle but they know that they have enough there with the rest of the offense to be OK but they're going to wait until after cut downs That means when camp fully breaks and the preseason is over and they'll see what's out there and I believe they will bolster that area like they kind of did with Peters although Peters was more of an inside guy but we need a guy like that to just be there just in case II just gonna use a baseball reference two or three Times Now it's a long reliever a guy coming a couple games you know Hoffman and Bass has done a good job being those guys on the inside,

We need some of that on the outside but I think they're going to wait until after all this is over to see if whatever they have on the roster steps up if not I think yes they need to go out and get not a starter but a viable veteran tackle to be the swing tackle..
Yes agreed on all of it. At least I didn't say he was going to be replaced on the post. Putting pressure on him is also pushing him so that we can get the best out of him. I don't even think we could cut him because of what his cap hit would induce. He be better salvaged as a back up but yes, replacing him is hard. This post also wasn't about defense but yes agree with those points too. Big dog made it about defense because it was to prove his point. Listen this is also the Cowboys. While I feel really good about them. I don't let myself get too high. They always find a way to let us down. The biggest reason for that "feel good" right now is "I feel" we might finaly have some good coaching especially on that D. Just hope it translates to the field.

If you have the resources to fix it you should fix it. But if you waited this long maybe hope it holds up fine until next season lol.
How many times have they gone with “hope” as a plan at certain positions, only to find that the shortages there are exactly what kills the season?

There is probably a shingle shortage this time of year though. Plus I already paid a guy a ton of money to do a bad job, so I’ll just figure to get lucky again next time.

Yeah I mean the offense was fine with Steele last year. Unless he’s Chaz Green bad they just have to figure it out
no the offense was not fine
you blather about yards and ignore third down percentages
yeah we scored a lot of points but not in the red zone
and a lot of the reason for that was poor tackle play
perfect example of why stats can be used to hide reality

We cut his salary in the restructure and created about 13 mill of cap space. Had we simply cut him, we would have lost much of that space.

Pay attention and your posts will improve.
He had zero guarantees left in his deal. When we "cut" his salary in the restructure we gave him $22 million in new guarantees. If they had just released him as a June 1st cut instead of restructuring, we would have saved $14 million. And we wouldn't be stuck with his bonus and guarantees for a few more years.

Stop criticizing, pay attention and your posts will improve too. Glass houses.

"The Cowboys signed Steele to an extension early in his career, giving him a five-year, $82.5 million extension in 2023. The guaranteed money ran out with the 2025 season, leading many to ponder whether the Cowboys would go in a different direction as they could have seen up to $14 million in cap savings by making him a post-June 1 release."

Steele will play, he just sucks and everyone knows it. Can't have a pro-bowler at every spot but they obviously need to scour the waiver wire after cuts to get some better 2nd tier players for the OL. The 2nd team has been Trash City. Steele is just barely above that level unfortunately.

If they post June cut him in 2027

2028

He’s basically cap locked until 2028.

Offensive line will be our demise. Hopefully CP defense can produce a lot of turnovers to get our offense more opportunities.
Terrence Steele's pass blocking is the # 1 weakness on this team, period. Can we say that a offensive tackle will be taken high in the 27 draft ,I think so.

I get it. Every position isn’t gonna be filled. There are gonna be weaknesses. Seahawks had so many weaknesses they had the 3rd best odds to win their division. We can’t keep trying to fill every hole until there’s no more holes left to fill. It’s just not realistic.

The offense was top 5 last year with Steele. So while I’m concerned with his play…..the line has 3 1st rounders on it and Beebe. At some point you have to just overcome your weakness. That’s why you hire good coaches.

They need to stop using first rounders in linemen. Enough is enough. You can’t miss out on guys like Mazi and then use 3 1st rounders on the line.

They were league average and it needs to improve but putting all that on Terrence Steele is moronic. Your coaches and qb deserve some of that blame.

I understand that, but there?? On both sides? You’re a passing team.

If you have a weakness on defense you might give up a big play here and there. A weakness at OT and your season could be over on any snap.

Look I’m certainly hoping for the best, and the starters may just prove to be serviceable, but one injury and we are running dudes like Thomas or Shelton out there? It would be discussed constantly around here.

I’m just hoping they understand this and will add to the position, but between the first rounder and big contract, I believe they think the position is fine. Decker isn’t coming here, but I’m hoping for some sort of a decent vet with experience that can play both sides.

The problem is really depth. If anyone gets hurt, the entire OL will be compromised. Need at least serviceable backups. The guys they have should be stocking shelves at Home Depot.

I was hoping they would have looked into Caedan Wallace when the Patriots were cutting him. They need to do something to have another option if and when Steele struggles.

We’ve had weakness at rt for some time now. It’s not ideal but it shouldn’t ruin your season. One position shouldn’t do that. Especially right tackle.

Offensive line will be good enough. If both Guyton and Steele suck that might require some shuffling the offensive line.
