Game Day Preseason Cowboys and Cardinals Thread

They haven't even given Blue any outside designed runs.
Exactly. Blue has been forced to pick up every yard in between the tackles. Once he starts getting those outside designed runs, he's going to start lighting it up even more than he currently is. Blue is proving he deserves to be RB2.

They haven't even given Blue any outside designed runs.
And that is probably on purpose. But I do wonder with some of that about his fit for us. We seem to be an inside zone team, with our run game designed to go through those three interior linemen we have.

Keep making up your stories if they help you feel better.

Here are a few facts:

Blue, for being a smaller RB, usually has defenders hitting him when he barely gains a yard or two, yet he still ends up gaining positive yards or he breaks a run for more yards than he should.

Davis picks up big yards only when he has huge holes where the first defender to touch him is 7+ yards downfield, which is often. When forced to create his own holes or extra yards, it doesn't happen much since Davis is not quick or fast enough.

As of this game, Blue has 0 fumbles attributed to him.

Davis has a fumble during the kickoff return.

Rushing Preseason Game 2:

Blue: 15 rushes for 75 yards.
Davis: 5 rushes for 29 yards.

Yeah, who does it look like the Cowboys are favoring as their #2 RB?
Blue has severe fumbling issues. I'm out on him. Also his vision is very avg. He's fast but gets hit too early to use it. Davis does everything better but speed. Davis is #2 dude

:hammer:First 3 picks are looking like MONSTERS
1975:

1st round - the Cowboys have two 1st round picks. They choose defenders both times

3rd round - They choose a defender who ultimately becomes their starting MLB for nine seasons.

:Results:

All three end up in the Pro Bowl for a combined 13 times. One becomes a HOFer.

2027:

1st round: The Cowboys have two first round picks. They choose defenders

3rd round: They choose a defender.

Results:

???.....but looking pretty good, overall.

The Cowboys have had two 1st round picks in a draft seven times in their history.

The first and second time were back-to-back in 1974 and 1975.

The third and fourth were back-to-back in 1991 and 1992, a product of the Heschel Walker trade.

The last three have been in 2005, 2008 and this past draft.

The best combined draft position for two 1st round picks was the 1991 draft when they had the overall #1 and #12 pick, Russel Maryland and Alvin Harper. The second best combined position was 1975 when they took Randy White and Hollywood Henderson.

The worse draft position was 2008 when they took Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins with the 22nd and 25th picks.

Sorry....rambling and watching.
