Preseason Game 2 reactions (and overreactions)

Well, that wraps things up for preseason game 2. I suppose now it's time for the forum's Preseason Game 2 reactions (and overreactions). The Cowboys are 2-0.........sort of, it's preseason so the records don't really count, but I'd rather see 2-0 instead of 0-2 anyway lol.

I think the first thing for me is that, it's not just a preseason 2-0.....it's been a dominant 2-0 for our depth. I'm aware that the Cardinals are terrible. But, the same depth pieces also dominated the Seattle depth. So, I'm inclined to think that our depth is actually decent.

Barsham and Revel looked AWESOME. I think Milton solidified himself as the QB2. I can't wait to see our starting offense and starting defence play together. Who'd have thought that last year? What a difference an offseason and proper coaching can have!

All in all, well done to the coaches. I know it's vanilla, and I know it's preseason. But I'm delighted at how dominant we've looked the last two preseason games. It's encouraging to me.
I just started the DVR...the 1st series was great. Looks like our defense has been taught how to tackle and cover people. You're gonna get some penalties staying close...that's okay.

I don't know if I'd say Revel looked awesome. He had the illegal contact penalty and on the interception, the receiver tripped. He was in the right place at the right time to make the interception, though.

Barham looked like he's going to be a beast.

Both Mingo and Brown had shining moments at receiver.

This was the best I've seen Jay Toia look since he's been here, and Overton got him a sack. I've liked what I've seen overall of the backup interior defensive linemen in these two games.
Like I just said...I'm okay with a penalty on occassion. He was playiing tight and there was some contact. Not like he reached out because he was out of position. He was right there.
AND...he kept his head in the play for the interception. It would be easy to be distracted by the WR falling or bail out of the play. He stayed in it kept his coverage and eye on the ball.

I think maybe not awesome but.... positive.

I'll go with that. He was positive, and that's a good thing. And I think he will get better with Parker.

Barham just continues to show up on film, how the hell did he fall to the third. He just has it, meanwhile Rodriguez and Styles look lost

Just off the top of my head:

Stock Up: Joe Milton, Jonathan Mingo, Jaydon Blue, Jaishawn Barham, LT Overton, Shavon Revel, Zack Kuntz

Stock Down: Devin Moore, Nate Thomas, Marist Liufau, Sam Howell

I think that's about right, and I think Moore is going to need development time.

I fell asleep around halftime.

How did Trigg look? If he played in the first half I didn’t notice.

Also, while it was far from a perfect night, Drew Shelton looked a heck of a lot better at his natural left tackle spot than on the right.

Once he gets a little stronger he could be a future swing tackle at the least.

I think Revel has the talent to be very good, but they have to fix the handsy problem. He needs to trust his talent and stop grabbing. Think CP had him wearing mittens this week in practice. If he gets a reputation as a grabber the refs will make him pay.

Blue is the 3rd running back on this team behind Davis. Mafah didn’t get any carries and they experimented with him at kick / punt return so that’s a big hint to me they are trying to find a place for him but won’t make it

Definitely, and we need him to be less handsy. I think Parker will fix that
