Anybody else dissapointed in Sam Willams?

At one point he had 4.5 sacks in limited snaps under Quinn. He also made some
Big time special teams plays but no I can’t say I’m disappointed because he’s yet to show any consistency. It became clear he’s a probably at best a reserve guy. He has proper coaching now and I figured if they can’t improve him or scheme then this is probably what he is. He’s no longer a 2nd round he’s now a vet minimum guy.

I’m disappointed that he’s not showing up more as I thought this new staff could possibly help him to maximize his physical talents.

I agree with this. It's fair to criticize but at least give him credit for what he has done. He has made plays for this team.

This is the frustrating part. We know he is capable of being a very good player. We have seen flashes. He just can't seem to put it all together. Which is a huge shame.

Probably not. I’m hoping maybe Quinn will throw us a late round pick for ‘his guy’.

I think they’re trying to showcase him for a trade.

They’d save a lot more against the cap with a trade than a release.

My belief is that they’d prefer to move him rather than keep him.

I had similar hope. But I can’t say I’m disappointed because he’s just been either bad or hurt. And I don’t really have much to go off on because I didn’t see it in college. As a pro he has the physical tools but that’s just not enough.

I feel like he would’ve signed him the guy was so cheap it made me think no one wanted him. It’s interesting it seems Fowler and Armstrong are the only guys Quinn wanted. All these other guys I guess he saw enough lol.

That’s just some guys though. Sometimes flashes are all guys can show. Jeff Heath showed flashes at times. Mo Claiborne did. What separates the good from the average is consistency. I have no doubt Sam is doing the best he can. He’s not loafing around. This is just what he is.

He played ok Saturday but I never thought he'd be resigned after the season.

but after his first year, I had no expectations at all
he has made too many bonehead plays gotten too many dumb penalties and not enough plays that matter

And after his rookie season I can see some hype, but since then he’s been shown that less is more for him. Solid end of roster guy who has the physical talent to flash more at times, but certainly not a player a good team is counting on for any sort of significant impact.

Oh not at all. For sure a reserve guy. I mean they’ve added like 5 edge rushers this year and last…..

I was surprised at how late he was playing in these games.

It would not at all surprise me if he goes. I’d like to hang on to him for one more year and see how that goes with some decent players inside finally, but it could be a numbers thing. You can’t fix stupid, and is still very likely that type of player. Not sure of CPs thoughts on that, but they can’t be in SWs favor.

Sam Williams hasn't improved much since drafted. Has all the physical traits, but lacks the mental capacity to use them. Time to move on, team has given him plenty of chances to step up and he never has.

He looks terrible out there, I don't see no explosiveness from him playing against 2's and 3's.... him and luifau have both been terrible.

That's proof he's on the bubble. EZE, Gary, Miller, Lawrence, and Houston seem to be the five edge rushers. Doubting they keep six. The numbers game will get Sam Williams. Wonder if he's tradeable for a 7th.
