Here we go again with Milton

Can you name me other players that are hyped up like this that dont play? Ive heard from the Shannon Sharpe podcast, now I just heard it on NFL Network that Milton is too good to not be starting somewhere. Well, reality is he is on a rookie deal and still have next season under that rookie deal..... so he isnt going anywhere. And no, those of you asking about trading him.... not a chance with the way he has played this preseason.

Then, they started talking about Shiyazh Pete and if he will be on the roster. Bahahhah.... holy crap, that is your proof the Cowboys are America's team when you spend time talking about a player who has zero chance of making the team.
Scorpion and the frog.

Click on a garbage dispenser and it will give you garbage.

His podcast with Ocho and Joe Johnson is good. Entertaining. I don’t know if I’d use it to gain knowledge though.
Shannon Sharpe is damn smart. Let me know things he says that are out in left field. Besides his questionable choice in woman, when it comes to football, he knows what hes talking about.

Today, they were talking about York and the hookergate... they were hilarious.

Id trade him to the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick that can become a 1st depending on playing time and incentives
Of course we would do that in a nanosecond.

A third would be awesome, but you'd likely only get a 4th.

Football people aren't impressed as easily as fans are.

Id rather keep him. Im not saying I'm sold by any means, but there's enough to make me encouraged and Dak isnt getting any younger or cheaper. Maybe we should keep developing and can plug him in when the time comes?
I agree with this. IMO he's shown enough to keep him around and see if he can develop.

Yeah he really screwed up with tapping that 19 year old.

Milton has been great so far, but he will be over 30 when Dak retires or leaves.
You don’t rebuild with a 30+ year old QB who doesn’t have starting experience.

He is clearly the best backup QB, but our future after Dak is much more likely to be a 22-23 year old we bring in a little down the road. Milton himself, if capable, deserves a better fate than backing up Dak for the next 3-4 years, and the Cowboys are not likely to give him a veteran contract as a backup.

If someone offers a 2nd round pick or a starter at a position of need, I’m taking it and going with Howell as the vet backup.
You're assuming Dak stays healthy or retires in a few years which is fine and good, but if dak gets hurt this year and Milton steps in and elevates the team he could quite possibly be YOUR next starting quarterback at 26 years of age! Anything can happen, trading him now hoping dak makes it a few more years is absolutely ludicrous.. I give you credit though for pretending to be smart.

Just be grateful they aren't being featured on "Hard Knocks" this year.

I'll root for Pete because it's a good storyline and I have a soft spot for underdogs. However, I certainly hope and expect that he earns his spot and there were no outside influences.

Milton looks good, much improved. Yes, he was playing against 2nd and 3rd team players at best. However, he did receive the same for an offense. It also may be true that he benefited from that due to familiarity with those backups in practice, I don't know.

The bottom line was that he looked good....much improved.

That's a good thing no matter what the potential ramifications are.

Except Romo and Dak play the position at a high level, and Milton has shown none of that ability in regular season, real games. Look, I hope he continues to develop, but let’s not go crazy over preseason performances.
I recall Dak BALLING out against the LA Lambs at the LA Colosseum and thought "damn this kid shines during game time" because I heard he sucked in practice.

Same here and now. Kid played in the elite SEC for Tenn. He's the real deal.

No NFL GM is gonna give a 2nd for a QB who’s been awful in the few regular seasons games he’s played in. I wasn’t even sure he would mk the team this season. Yes, he’s improved (in preseason plays against backups), but we would be lucky to get a 4th or 5th round pick for Milton right now.
I think your forgetting a very important fact that the Zaney Zoners live by:

Other teams aren't allowed to say No to whatever idiotic trade ideas the Gomers in here come up with.

A 1st for a nothing QB? Sure!

A 3rd for a dlineman we don't want any more because he sucks and we're going to cut him anyway? Sure!

A 5th for the rotting garbage in the dumpster that's waiting to be hauled off? Why not...

August. It's when all things are possible for the Zaney Zoners. August.

Feel a cool breeze this morning though. Just a gentle reminder that colder Temps and colder reality is waiting for us again...just like always.

Pete may have zero chance making other teams.

But when Jerry sees the media attention he's getting the whole Navajo Nation behind him and the fact that Terrence Steele sucks.

Media attention from a great feel good story and the whole native American nation now engaged to augment your fan base might influence Jerry to give up a roster spot.
Stranger things have happened

Does Trey Lance ring a bell? I think we all knew, barring a Dak Prescott injury, that Trey was never going to play. It's Dak's team. Milton is in the same boat as Trey; except we are beginning to see that Milton actually looks like a starter. It would be an all-time storybook ending if Dak took us to the playoffs only to get sidelined by injury and see Milton lead this team to its sixth Super Bowl title. Then what?

Thank you,

I don’t think he will be traded, but not because he has played well. If he didn’t play well it wouldn’t be a possibility. Even now the return wouldn’t be enough to make it worthwhile.

Thing is, and I said this from the minute they acquired him….Daks contract runs longer this his does, so how does that add up to Milton being the future here?
