Run down on Broderick Jones for Dallas people

I'm not worried about what people think of him all I know is I guarantee this and I'm not over there but I don't need to be over there to understand this team and how teams operate Adams Schottenheimer and Will Mcclay saw a need just like we did at tackle they went to Jerry and they had a list and they consulted and said we can work with this guy Adams and Riley or whatever the other guys name is for the offensive line they're the ones who know about these players and whether they can work with them or not it doesn't matter what fans and media think it's the worst thing to do is like well we saw what he did over there yeah the same team the Pittsburgh Steelers who gave up on George Pickens it happens all the time draft picks get in a low and they're not very good and the team gets rid of them and they go somewhere else and they actually can sometimes reignite their career...


Want to hear what fans think because they're listening to media and they are looking at what this guy did or didn't do in the past all I know is Jerry didn't wake up and this guy's name was at the top of his mind that did not happen This was something from the coaching staff who probably took it to Will Mcclay and they did research you know they didn't do this on a whim and they think they can work with the guy so they asked Jerry to go ahead and make the trade that's how it works you think Jerry and Steven are doing all these things and it just seems really dumb no that is not how it works they do consult and when it's a name like this that's probably not at the top of anyones list it came from the coaching staff..


Good bad or indifferent i'm gonna trust the coaching staff thinks they have something to work with and they're gonna try to do it this guy is gonna be the swing tackle to start the season and maybe a change of zip codes getting on a different team is gonna help him out where he's not pressured he could be the swing tackle and work his way in..

Just a borderline wasted roster spot for Steelers if he’s so injured he isn’t even lifting


For Dallas it’s a flier on a potential starter. Didn’t really give up much
 
I don’t understand how bringing in another guy who has struggled helps us.

Move Smith to LT, Guyton to RT, Bass to LG, and let Steele be the swing and pray there are no injuries.

Scour the cuts and PS players from other teams and sign some guys to upgrade from Thomas or Shelton, and maybe grab an interior OL to back up

We are in a bad way along the OL. Trading assets away for more question marks is dumb.

We knew Steele was a weak link last year and the FO sat on their hands. This is the price of overvaluing your players. They paid him big money which was a mistake, and then they doubled down on the mistake by refusing to cut him bc of the dead money hit

Chasing mistakes with more mistakes is not a solution

They do if they are coming off a neck injury and can get a 3rd round pick in return. This trade maybe more about the future than today.

Unless they have his replacement on the roster(they do) and are going to lose him to FA anyway(they are). Other teams are not as dumb as Jerry, who holds onto players until they can't walk instead of getting something for them.

BJones is not a great OT, but an OT he is.

His future is now..he is in the last year of his contract.. Players with similar injuries have retired....aka. Leighten Vander Esch.

  • Was a project when drafted and still has significant technical and mechanical issues with his game in year four.
  • Would have been a probable cut today if the Steelers front office wasn’t afraid of the PR backlash from cutting their GMs very first, first round pick in 2023.
  • Cost a third and a sixth in a loaded draft while bringing back a fourth
  • Is a unrestricted free agent in six months
  • Is a heck of a nice guy
  • Had a great pic of him with a seal on a zoo field trip that made fans say “aww”.
If we were going to add an offensive tackle who can help us next season, I would have suggested we draft him in the third round next year.

We basically are renting a player who is unlikely to help much this year. The only possible upside is a near miracle turnaround buit 100% on hope.

He should be put on the pre-cut IR so he can gain weight and strength and learn the playbook before a mid-season debut but that won’t happen becauase Jerry will absolutely talk about him at the press conference tomorrow as being evidence that we are trying to win now.

The only possible saving grace is if Klayton Adams did a deep dive of every snap the guy has ever had and said “I promise I can fix him”.

Smith was a holding nightmare in college at LT. Guyton possesses skills that Smith does not have, and has been looking very good this preseason.

It's a tough call. Smith is and All-Pro at guard but wouldn't be at tackle. Yes, he would be good, but weakening one position to shore up another isn't a move that often pays big dividends. Our inability to develop good, versatile backups along the line bites us in the butt again.
