Have we become so used to Jerry that anytime he does bare minimum we praise him?

That is absolutely 100% not what getting doubles means.

A player gets doubled because a single blocker can't handle him. It means he is penetrating or collapsing the pocket.

Grabbing other players, sheesh. You really don't know that's a penalty? This is one weird convo!!!!!

Not only that, but getting doubled is literally Quinnen's job as a NT. The fact he can penetrate the interior oline is WHY we need him to GET doubled. Someone is going to get an open lane to blow up a run play or demolish the QB. Or, because of that, if the QB gets the ball off, Downs, Thompson, or Bland should be able to pick it off. And, whenever Bland does pick off a ball, we all know what he can do with it. If Quinnen is doubled and everyone else does their job, our already dangerous offense becomes even deadlier.

Literally said he was washed a few seasons ago when he had an all pro season in Washington, now it would be a good move...
Where did I Say he wasn't washed or that it wouldn't be a good move? You keep looking for a "got you" after all these years like i'm not gonna stand on business. I admitted to you I Was wrong and he wasn't washed that year. Now in 2026 you're once again reminding me I Was wrong. What do you want lol? He's washed. Doesn't mean I wouldn't take him as a backup or insurance.

A good DLline pushes the OL back so the QB can't step up. It's about way more than just holding your ground.
Yep...that;s what I said.

But...the last few years we haven;t even been able to "stand our ground". So SOFT upfront in the middle. That i;d be happy just for a tie.

I hope it changes...that we actually get some push up the middle and force the QB to move sideways.

Buddy I said there are multiple ways to do it.

Just pipe down.

It takes more than one guy to hold the line. If ONE guy can take TWO of theirs...we're supposed to win that battle. It's not the fault of the guy that takes two blockers. He's doing his job.

That's literally the NT's job. If he does get a one on one, then either someone on the other team's oline blew their assignment and he should be able to get a massive loss, or he blew his assignment. And the fact he can penetrate is why he gets double teamed, and the rest of the team will benefit from that. That's why this style should be more successful, especially against the big boys.
Sure, QW is not a nose.

Exactly, and that's why Ive been bullish on our defence. We FINALLY have the markings of becoming a physical defence. We FINALLY have the marking of being difficult up the middle. If we are, not only should we win a lot of games, but I think this team should be able to make a deep playoff run.

Sure, QW is not a nose.

Okay, then that's even better. That means you have a dline of Quinnen, Clark, and Overton. Clark and Otito up the middle is still good, and if Clark/Otito is playing NT is still dangerous NT depth. That means that Clark or Otito are getting doubled, and Quinnen is going to get a lot of push too. They can't double team both him and Clark. If they do, then even better. That's two more linebackers (both OLB and Ilb) that can benefit.

Exactly, and if Clark is going to be an NT, then it's even better because it means Quinnen should get a lot of one on ones, which means we would then be even MORE dangerous up the middle. All the more reason I'm bullish on our defence, especially as the season goes on and the team develops.

I am honestly lost at what you are trying to say.

Fundamentally, yes, better DT play will give others more freedom.

That's been my point, and probably everyone else's point lol! That's been my point this whole time lol. And not only that, I think it's BETTER than what we had been doing because the rest of the team isn't going to get worn down. That means, guess what, come playoff time, this defence should be able to do what a defence should in the playoffs. Why do you think the Chiefs were so successful? Not only did they have Mahomes, but that defence with Chris Jones was deadly, in part because Chris was crucial to their dline. We now have that with Quinnen imo. The way we WERE doing that was, sure, okay in the regular season, but it was never going to win us playoff games. What they're doing FINALLY has the capability to do it. In part because the interior shouldn't be soft anymore. If you're soft down the middle, you're doomed.

I don't disagree with your point but the way you keep listing players doesn't make much sense to me.

Chris Jones wasn't eating double teams, they actively lined him up so that he could get 1-1 matchups and penetrate. He played a bunch of snaps on the edge. Vita Vea did too, when the Bucs beat the Chiefs. I don't think we're likely to see QW on the edge, but they'll scheme to get him 1-1s, not use him to free up other players.

Well, and that's where I think Clark or Otito come in. I think they're more likely to take double teams to allow Quinnen the ability. If Parker puts Clark in the middle and QW at DE, QW is going to either get a lot of 1 v 1s like you said (in part because Clark or Otito is going to take a lot of double teams) or he's going to get double teamed, along with Clark, which means the other offense has no shot. It's why it's so deadly that the Rams just got Donald back. He and Myles Garrett are so good that you have to double team them. But, the problem is, unless you're willing to take a TE off a route, you can't double both. You wouldn't have a RB be involved in the double team because the RB would get trucked, so, the TE is the only one capable of helping the tackle in that situation. And if you do, then the QB has to dump it off to the RB, which makes the other team that much easier to predict. It's about trying to get the other offense to a point where you basically can control their offense.

Depends on your goal. Holding your ground makes you OK. Collapsing the pocket puts you in the super bowl.

OK little boy. Why don't you quit the silly childhood stuff? Pipe down. Did your 3rd grade teacher say that today?

Why don't we switch to real football discussions and leave the grade school stuff in the classroom?
