The way I see this season (prediction)

I think the Cowboys will be a significantly better team than the last two seasons in a row. I do genuinely think we should be one of the top 3-4 teams in the conference. The way I see the season, it'll be crucial that we get the division round at home. Let me break down my analysis below for why.

I think the Rams are probably going to win the SB if they stay healthy. Unfortunately, I see them going 15-2 at worst with how good their defence should be. So, I have them easily as the 1 seed. So, assuming the 1 seed is out of the question for us.

I think the NFC South will be useless as usual this season, so I think the winner gets the 4 seed.

So, the final question is, what about the rest of the way? I think we should win the division. I think, if the Cowboys stay healthy, we should win this division going away. The big question will be the NFC North and the WCs. I think the Bears will likely win the NFC North. So, the first question will be, who finishes in the 2 seed? Us or Chicago? Then the question is, who do we play at home in the WC round. I think the teams that I'd be concerned about facing in the WC round would be Green Bay and Seattle. I think we can handle Green Bay, but weird stuff always seems to happen when we play them. Seattle is the reigning champs, and I could see them being tough. I think the good news for us, I see Seattle likely getting the 5 seed, so they become the NFC South's and Rams problem (and might be helpful for us here). Hopefully, we get maybe a division opponent in the WC round? We usually win if it's that.

So, assuming we win the WC round, this is where the pressure comes in. I think, if we are the 3 seed and going against Chicago in Chicago, I think we're in trouble with the climate there. If we catch them in Dallas, I think we win that game. I think that's where the most crucial part of the season will be for us. I think that's what this season comes down to. Imo, we MUST get the 2 seed or have Chicago lose in the WC round (if they get the 2 seed) if we get the 3 seed. I think that makes the difference whether we go to the NFCCG or not.

I should also add, it's crucial we get the 2 or 3 seed (assuming the Rams get the 1 seed) because we also don't want to catch Seattle until the NFCCG. I think they'd send us home early. But if we can catch them at home in the NFCCG, we would have a better shot than having to go to LA in the NFCCG. But, yeah, that's pretty much what seems to be the most important path for this season imo.

I could see that, and if that's the case, then the 1 seed could be open for us. But I think the 1 seed likely depends on Seattle or LA. The loser probably gets the 5 seed.

For one thing, I think we do actually have a better team than SF, and, I'm NOT wishing this on them, but San Francisco tends to have a lot of injuries. So, I'm not sure how much of a team they'll even have by the time we play them. I know they'll be difficult , but I think we can beat them. Plus, it's at home, and we play well at home of late usually. Partly why I think winning the division is so critical. As for Green Bay, we drew with them with a terrible defence. I think we should have a much better team this year. So, I do think we are more than capable of beating them this year.

Oh I agree. But I think that's how we will be able to determine whether or not we get the 2 or 3 seed (or of course win the division). But I think, since we went 7-9-1 with a crap defence last year, as long as the team stays healthy, it's more than reasonable for me to expect 12-5 or 11-6. I think we will probably win the division by at least two games, so, I think the worst we should do if that happens is the 3 seed (I see the NFC South winner having at best a 9-8 record).

Again, that was with arguably one of the worst defences in our history and our offense having to score 35+ points a game to have a chance (and even then still having to kick GW field goals to win on two occasions). This year, the defence looks much better, and I think, especially when they get it in gear, they should be able to help us that way. I expect our offense to be just as good as last year, and if our defence can be at least average or better, I think 12-5 is reasonable.

I could see 10-7, but even that should win us the division imo. I think the Eagles are going to take a massive step back. I think the Giants are a couple years away from being legitimate, and I think Washington might be terrible this year. So, 10-7 probably still gets us the 3 seed. But, that might not be enough to get us to the NFCCG.

I'm trying to provide a logical argument for what seed we need to be able to to the furthest in the playoffs. In no way do I think we are currently in the Rams league with the way they're built. But I think we can, if we stay healthy and things go the way I think they can, make the NFCCG at least. But I do not believe we're going to the SB, and I made that crystal clear at the start. I have the Rams winning it, and it probably won't be close. But if we can get to the NFCCG, then that'd be awesome.
