If the Cowboys were ran correctly, they would not have traded a draft pick for Milton and wasted 2 years. Cooper Rush is a likely starter in Atlanta. What did the Cowboys get for Cooper Rush? What did the Cowboys get for Joe Milton? Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

I would bring him back. He did look better then he did last year. so he improved
not enough for backup, but with improvement you could reasonably make the case of keeping him another year and seeing if the improvement continues
 
If any team wanted him bad enough, they would have put in a claim. That keeps him out of free agency.

Nobody wanted Bazooka Joe enough to even do that. If the Cowboys weren't lying about wanting him back on the PS, he better sign there. Because it looks like it's Dallas or nowhere.

Yes, they talked to teams on Saturday. They didn't take calls on Sunday when teams set their rosters and they protected him on the 53 on Sunday. I know it's really hard for people to understand.

Yes,.......its time to finally WIN again. You don't win by simply LOOKING the part,......you win by actually walking the walk. Having said all that I do hope they sign the kid back,....he has as good a chance as any at being the 3rd string QB and maybe some day moving up to trusted 2nd string backup . Not sure he has what it takes to ever be a legit NFL starter but if he works at it hard enuff who knows. I wish him the best,
 
Listen, to be fair this isn't about Milton stinking, it's about him not being ready yet.

He offers nothing to any team already with backup QBs they've had in their systems for months. Starting from scratch with Milton on a new team, new offense, new terminology- it would be a waste of time.

Going back to Dallas' practice squad is best for him. Whether he realizes it or not.

If he’s on my team I always root. I’m just stating obvious facts. He played the opposite of how he practiced, if that makes sense to you.

but he can be poached from the PS without compensation so you could just be training a guy for free.

The pay difference between being on a 53 man roster vs. the practice squad is steep. A player would literally have to be rich already to accept a PS spot over a roster spot.

And they are certainly free to do that. But like I said, if he doesn't want to be here, then I don't want him.

If he'd gotten claimed, then I'd hold no grudge because he'd have no choice but to leave. But now it's on him ... unless, of course, Dallas isn't offering him a spot on its practice squad.

The Cowboys waited long enough that a team would already be set on their week #1 QB1 and QB2 positions playbook-wise.

At best he would get QB3 offers with any other team at this point.

The real question is whether he thinks he can move up in the depth chart faster with another team than on the Cowboys, and that is a question only he can answer depending on which teams show interest.

If I were him, I know the Cowboys want me back so I would test the market first and see what options are out there before deciding.
 
I'd say about 90% of people don't get it. How many times did they cut Cooper Rush?

Teams can protect four PS players from getting poached every week. If Milton signs there and isn't one of them, that speaks volumes.

Not sure I understand the relevance. Joe isn't choosing between a roster spot and a PS spot.
