Joe Milton Clear Waivers and is now a free agent

I think he's sees a long path to starting here now, so he's weighing his options.

His best move is to stay here and work on his game with a good team, but ego and youth don't always think straight.

His best option is to come back. He knows the offense and the personnel. But like you said it may come down to ego. I think being passed over by 31 teams would humble him a little.

If I was him I’d sign on a team with terrible QBs if I could. It was why Romo signed here because he thought he’d have a chance to play. He isn’t going to see the field here most likely, so unless he thinks the coaching is amazing here versus elsewhere, why sign here.

when all the cuts were made on day 1,teams did their jockeying and used up what they felt were reasonable moves of dropping players to claim others. NOw, Milton is cut and teams really werent willing tothen drop other players to add milton.Im paraphrasing. Butbasically, this was their plan and gamble they were willing to make.So far, that plan ison schedule. If Milton does sign back to the practice squad...then that shows that was exactly their plan.He also said, maybe a team didoffer a late pick, like a 6th or7th, and dallas said no, because they wanted him back and didnt want a crap 7th for Milton, in hopes they could execute their plan and get him back. I asked this in another thread but it wasn't answered. Genuine question about Milton and others. If a player gets waived and goes unclaimed and is now a FA does that mean his rookie contract is null and void and they start from scratch or does he keep his rookie deal? So is he negotiating a new salary now with teams or is he looking for someone to pick up his rookie deal?

Nobody offered a pick lol or they would have claimed him

It doesn't make any sense that some teams were interested in him for a trade, but weren't interested when they could get him for nothing.

I do believe the late cut was strategic with most teams already making their waiver moves, but it is kind of shocking that no team felt he could at least make their 53.

Thank you Captain Obvious. But they would’ve had to add him to their active roster with a waiver claim. Now Cleveland (or anyone) can sign him to their PS.

No, but he has progressed and he was neck and neck for the qb2 spot. Hopefully we bring him back and continue to work with him.

Not even because id like to keep him, but if i was advising him id tell him to remain in Dallas another year. Dak is not getting any younger, Milton knows the system and hes gotten better with these coaches. No need to jump the gun. He should play the long game.

I really had no plan to jump into this conversation, but this is a truly the most idiotic take to compare a QB to Milton to prove someone else sucks more than him.

One player had 4.6k yards, 30 TDs, 10 Ints, 7.6 yds/att, 67% completion on 600 atts, and a 99.5 passer rating and 70.2 QBR vs another player that had 183 yds on 24 atts, 1 TD, 2 INT and a 65 passer rating and 52 QBR.

How do you think this proves any type of point you are trying to make. The only point it makes is how much you dislike one player.

Interesting that he cleared waivers. Young, physically talented, and didn’t play bad during preseason. There are far worse QBs on a roster.

I completely agree. He knows the offense, Dak is injury prone, and we have some serious weapons. If I was advising him I’d say go back to Dallas where you have a good chance of playing (due to injury) and you can put some film out there for another team to look at. That’s a better option than being a 3rd string guy on the Dolphins or Minnesota or something.

Yeah even starting somewhere without the right system and players could ruin his chances moving forward. Like you said, he has serious weapons here. He could do very well. I would be less confident in a new system with less talent.
