When he's right, he's an all-pro level player. When he's not, he's a detriment to the team. We only saw a few shades of the latter last year when he would draw silly penalties at crucial times.

He's got perform and play clean this year to be considered for next year, and even if so, that might just be another franchise tag. Albeit, a much more heft finance tag for a lot more money.

My guess is that they are going to use him down the seam a lot more and vertical from the slot. Basically, taking safeties vertical so CD, and even the TEs, have more room on intermediates and crossers.

I don't really know what else you'd do with Pickens that fits his skillset.
