Twitter: Dak wasn't the problem Sunday, it was the defense

Correct Right now I'll take a Dan Quinn defense but his defense wasn't legit look what happened to him in Washington That NFC championship game looked just like our 2023 Green Bay game that is not what I call legit that is at least what we need to get us into the playoffs But we need a true defense that you can rely on when things are not going well you shouldn't have to be perfect on offense every week you should have some weeks where you can win a game 17-10..

I mean that would be nice I mean I look around the league II see those kind of games I seen those kind of games in the playoffs last year where defenses were just owning the beginning few weeks of the playoffs..

I was jealous..
Dak has never had that luxury all these years, a defense he can count on in a crucial time. The Jones boys are to blame for that along with an overrated scouting department.

I mean I wouldn't say never but it's been a very very rare occurrence it's like a Unicorn..

No people are gonna try to point to the low scoring games against the Rams and the 49ers without really taking a look at those games Most of the game it was one dimensional football there was no run game the offensive line wasn't that good I mean he had 11 penalties in one game and they say there was a low scoring game they should have won that it must have been the offense but you have to look at the whole game I remember every snap but for almost every snap.

That's what I'm saying II keep bringing up Matthew Stafford because he's looked at his elite in this league to some people how could he lead the league in interceptions and get away with it how could he have two interceptions that nearly throw a third in the Super Bowl and still win it the Cowboys are not winning those games I'm not talking about in the Super but then I win those games if Prescott throws an interception or two interceptions that usually lose because our defense doesn't put up a fight to make sure they erase those..

We're not really talking about the pick sixes but I still really want people if you want to be fair I want them to go back and look at every interception that Prescott has thrown in playoffs but particularly the 2023 playoff game they keep talking about those like that's what lost the game and they forget that the defense never made a single stop in that game..

As soon as the kickoff landed in the Rams hands they had seven points and then it kept me in seven points and then seven points,

And I'm gonna keep bringing this up the interception that was thrown towards Brandon Cooks brandon Cooks was interfered with not once but twice The DB got the advantage because he pulled leverage on the back of Cooks and got over and got the ball look it wasn't called so it never happened And yes Prescott maybe shouldn't have thrown it over there but at that time there was nothing happening in the game nobody was open there was no run game he was trying to give Brandon Cooks a chance to catch the football which he usually does a good job catching the football unless he's interfered with twice..

And then the one to CD lamb why do people think that the pick six was on Prescott because he threw the ball no the route was where the ball was thrown but there was no player there because 88 cut up field he broke off his route and went off script because he knew he wasn't open enough so he thought he would just go up field and go ask him that is not on Prescott to throw the ball where your receiver was supposed to go that used to be the whole timing offense when Troy was quarterback usually let the ball go 'cause you trusted your receiver was gonna be in the area and go after the football..

I hate bringing this stuff up because people keep talking about his two interceptions must have cost us the game and they didn't because you know why I watched the 49ers in the exact same playoff year be down in the first half the same deficit in the same way they look like trash against the Lions but they kept themselves in the game with defense and special teams and good coaching and guess what they came back and won that game,

How would you have expected Prescott to win a game like that if in the second half your defense gives up three straight touchdowns after halftime and now everyone saying but they were tired it was all Prescott's fault it must have been the interceptions is it 'cause I'm saying it wasn't of course I want those interceptions to happen but when Matthew Stafford can get away with throwing 2 in the Super Bowl and leading the league in interceptions is still be called elite shame on our fan base for blaming our quarterback for that game.

Dak has had top 10 defenses in his career. Daks def held a SF Super Bowl team to 19 points in a playoff game. A game where he threw a pick in the redzone and the Cowboys lost by a td. While he was running the 2 min drill like a dummy, that had never played situational football in his life.

The excuses mixed with the glazing is CRAZY.

Donovan McNabb was a better qb and had way more post season success for the Eagles and they were ready to move on from him after he and Andy Reid couldnt get to a Super Bowl after a decade. The culture in Dallas is to glaze Dak and his regular season stats for a decade plus. And blame everybody but him. Wild times.

Yes he has. All three years under Dan Quinn the Cowboys had a top 10 defense.
In theory you are right. Dak has his own issues and he's not elite. But he shouldn't have to be. DQ and his defense's went on hiatus each time we made the playoffs. No QB was winning those games. Dak had zero chance. DQ is a good regular season coach but is lacking in the post season for whatever the reason. Dak isn't blameless either. But we cannot deny how mundane our defenses truly were in crunch time.

Dak isn't without blame. But those defense rankings were fools gold. Look no further than the playoffs. That wasn't the QB.

Inflated defensive numbers due to easy schedule and the ints and takeaways. They were pretty good indeed but nothing special. See the playoff games and how teams scored at will.

I had high hopes this defense would improve dramtially and quickly... I want to win sure...but I've had it up to here ~ with the defense excuse for Dak at every turn.

Remember last year...when,,,,people...said "If only Dak had an average defense"? Well top 10 is we above average...and we still couldn't get it done.

(for the record...everyone please note...I did not say "Dak was THE problem")

And they forget even in a low scoring games like the San Francisco games the defense did not intercept the ball they did not limit time of possession I mean even the Rams game with all the runs they forget how little possessions the offense had even if it was a close game on paper that did not excuse the defense for not playing well,

Whoever those same games Prescott had a offensive line had 11 penalties and they played behind the chains all game he was under pressure with no run game one dimensional football guys could not get open quick enough for him to get the ball out and they blamed him for forcing the ball in some of those games when there was nothing else but to force the ball you had to just say hey I'm throwing the ball up go get it...

That happens when there's nothing else going on in a game what do you want your quarterback to do just put a knee down and give up sometimes you give guys like Dez or George Pickens those types hey if they're good in contested catches and when they're not getting open well you just gonna have to throw it anyway You have to give them a chance yeah you have to just throw it all out there they have not had a dynamic run game in the playoffs and the only loss that they had a really good offense and it really everything was going right on offense with the Green Bay Packers in 2016 and they lost that game because of what drumroll please,

DEFENSE....

But we are forgetting that they are being forced to be one dimensional because of the trenches they are not blocking well they are not opening holes and they are not running well and I find it hilarious they think man if Pollard just didn't get hurt in that one first half of a San Francisco game maybe we could have won the dude was only running for like 3.2 yards per carry and that was our best running back that day In the end we 2.2 yards per carry There was number run game there was number great blocking there was no time to throw the football most times there wasn't anybody getting open so it wasn't just defense it was a mirage there was a lot of other problems in those games besides defense..

If it were an "easy schedule"...shouldn't Dak and the offense have "inlfated numbers" as well?

They were and yes, they did. When we reached post season that theory was quickly realized. But is it too much to ask our defenses to get some critical stops? What about helping out your offense? All the SB teams do.

Duly noted . In a team sport, the championship teams have top 5 defenses with rare exception.

I think most people agree with that. You dont' see the endless MOUNDS of posts about it? Aloong with Jerry?

It doesn't give Dak complete immunity.
