News: ESPN: Brian Schottenheimer owned up to Rio mistakes in Cowboys meeting

Does it matter? Dak should have ignored him. Schotty made a lot of questionable decisions in that game.
You are spot on my keystone brother.
Dak Prescott is enough to try your patience and get on your last nerve.

He's a 10-year veteran making 60 million a year he should have the common sense to make the decision to hit Pickens at the pylon.

What the heck he makes 12 times more than Brian schottenheimer he should have the authority to make whatever decisions are necessary in the red zone as things can change in a microsecond.

You hit it on the head brother WHAT DOES IT MATTER between the two of them they can't find their behind with both hands when it matters

Thats fair. Now let's say Dak ignored him and messed around and got sacked without any time outs.... the RT was getting pushed back into Dak mind you....

So let's say Dak in this situation got sacked, the time ran out, game over without a chance to kick a fg. Once it came out in the post game press conference that Schotty told Dak to throw it away if his first read wasn't opened, but he ignored him and cost us the game, who would you have blamed, Dak or Schotty?

I don't want no other explanations or deflections or anything else. I just the answer to that question.

If Dak ignored Schotty's order to throw it away, got sacked and no opportunity to kick a game tying fg, who would you and others had blamed for the loss, Dak or Schotty.?
Dak is not a rookie. He's an 11 year veteran. If there was a pass rush into his face then he should have thrown it away. That's why he's getting paid the big bucks. But that's not what happened. If you're too scared then kneel down till 2 seconds are left and kick the fg. We would have lost in OT anyway. Can't win with an awful defense and an offense that's too scared to do anything. These are the easy games. Just wait till the playoffs if we're lucky enough to get there. Elite qbs don't worry what others think of them. They just do it. People are just too worried about what others think about the qb. Sounds like you don't trust him either. I know if he succeeded nobody would have criticized him but there would be a lot of call out threads saying Dak is great.

So shoddy admitted that he made mistakes and he hurt the team.

That's just swell but that's not the job he's getting paid to do the coach is supposed to be the teacher he's supposed to be cool under pressure he is supposed to be the best at the x's and o's.

He is over his head and at this level of football people really don't want to hear that they don't want to hear you apologize they don't want to hear your excuses you're expected to get it done at an NFL level.

You're holding the most elite coaching position in sports you're coaching America's team not Podunk high School.

I don't see how it inspires confidence in anyone on the team that their coach is admitting how many times he screwed up and hoping that his quarterback still trusts him.

Jerry needs to get a real NFL coach and we need to draft a quarterback
These two positions are severely mentally lacking.
When you can't control your emotions in big moments and the gravity of the conditions gets the best of you you need to take a job within your comfort zone.

To error is human...Shirley there is no one amongst us who has never f$%ked up? Right?

Actually its a rare commodity these days when anyone admits a mistake

Give the man a chance.

Geez

Go Cowboys!

Well, I appreciate your write up. Very nice and informative from your prospective, but unfortunately you still didn't answer the question. Its cool though.

Now to the thing about "elite quarterbacks don't worry what other's think of them" thing. Who knows, I never asked any of them. Dak isn't elite but we definitely knows he doesn't care what others think of him because he publicly said it.

Im not sure that we'd have seen a bunch "Dak is great" threads had we won either. If we'd won, it would have been because of the efforts of the team, not just Dak.

Too bad there are people dumb enough to blame all losses on Dak however. There's always hope for the low IQ crew that has zero understanding of how football works.

No if we win it's all Dak and if we lose it's never his fault. There are other threads blaming Schotty, Jerry and other players but they don't have the pushback that the Dak threads have. He's never to blame. It was the same way with Romo. If Dak would have thrown the game winner he would have gotten credit.

Well I don't buy into all that. We win as a team and we lose as a team. There's no quarterback who has ever won a game by himself. There's 53 men on a team, 22 starters and 3 different units that plays the game.

Again... I don't buy into all of that. No quarterback in history has ever won a preseason game, regular season game, playoff game or Superbowl by themselves.... and they never will.

so you do not buy into the QB win stats?

It’s good he accepts responsibility.

The ultimate benchmark will be learning from and not making those types of mistakes again. Owning up to them isn’t enough.

So let’s see what happens.

Let's say Dak was real quarterback.

Real quarterbacks win the game right there.

Period.
