How to move forward at qb?

This isn’t an anti Dak post. I think every qb has games like last night. The difference is their defense and coaching isn’t atrocious and maybe it can help them still win.

I think Dak is a top 10 qb but like any other guy outside the top 5….one who needs help around him to win.

Reality is though. He’ll be 34 next year. With one year remaining on his deal. The window to win with him is closing… and closing fast.

In a deep qb draft….Shouldn’t we start to prepare for life after Dak? Consider drafting a guy and letting him sit for a year?

Time to move on was now, last week, last month, last year, 5 years. He should have never ever been tagged or given a second contract and even worse a 3rd contract. He was never the guy. And will never be the guy. Its time to consider Howell or Milton. Can't be any worse

There some fans on here that think he ages well like fine wine and want him to be playing past year 15. I was hoping to have a future quarterback in development behind him already.

Too soon to think about replacing Prescott.

My observation….he could use one less top notch WR but needs a stud TE to count on. Linus blanket.

I really think would better serve him. But….none of it matters if no one can play defense. It’s cool that they took the preseason off so no one gets hurt. Went well.

Either way, this is five games of this, and it’s next to not believable until you realize that it’s a Jerry controlled situation and that’ll never work….but he “bought himself” the right to be able to do this year after year and fail. I have NO idea how people haven’t turned on him severely.

You guys suck. Jerry is working on finding 53 guys to carry him; that takes time.
Maybe Jerry will think about getting a really good backup quarterback. He can go in against good teams, and when he gets us really far ahead, they can put dak back in to snatch the victory. Because we all know it's not dak's fault. *wink, wink*

Dak is a coach killer. Owners dream they can get more out of him but this is it. Game-manager Dak and high-octane Dak are both chokers in the end.

Sidenote: according to a nugget I read a couple of months ago, in 2027, multiple high-level QBs could change teams.
* Burrow
* Lamar Jackson
* CJ Stroud
* Baker Mayfield
* Jalen Hurts
* Deshaun Watson

Nothing wrong with Dak. Plus, he definitely is a top 5 QB right now. His stats prove it.

Dak is:

• #1 leading in passing yards (1,381) after 5 games.
• Tied #2 in passing TDs (9).
• Tied 3rd least in INTs (3; both interceptions against the Buccaneers were Ferguson's fault as both passes went right through both hands, only to be tipped and intercepted).
• #4 best QBR (79.2).

A real GM would already be having this plan.

Moving Dak wont happen, the cap hit. We owe more money next two years and then Dak will take Jerruh and the boy wonder to the shed again and probably keep his highest paid player status.

If the team somehow moves on and takes a salary caps hit, this current organization has shown zero ability to develops QBs. We got very lucky with Romo and Dak, doubt we pull an UDFA or later round pick and hit gold a third time.

What good is moving on at QB with an incompetent defense?
The common sense approach is trying to build a competent and then good defense so that …..

Now, you try to have good playoff runs and maybe get to a meaningful playoff game with a very good offense.

Then later, when you move on to a new developmental QB, you have a good defense to lean on while the new QB develops.

Why in all that is holy would anyone want to move on and try to develop a young QB when you have the worst defense in the NFL? The games would be even more unwatchable, if that’s possible.
