Is he pushing back on Jerry?

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer when asked about DC Christian Parker moving to the coaching booth during games, which Jerry Jones said yesterday would be happening: “None of those decisions have been finalized.”“There’s a good chance Christian is on the field.”“Christian Parker is our defensive coordinator. All (defensive) decisions will go through him.”

It makes sense that Parker should stay on the field with the addition of Mike Pettine.

That can change at some point of course, but the fastest way to get Pettine into the process now is to put him in the booth and Parker stays on the field.

With Pettine in the booth, he can relay what he sees and Parker, whom the players know and are used to working with, can stay on the field and call the defensive schemes and make adjustments.

"And I hope he still trusts me"

Sounds as if Shoddy wants Parker to decide, but Jerry wants him in the booth.

The booth isn’t so bad CP.

How is the answer anything other than whatever Parker is more comfortable with? Just because it hasn’t worked doesn’t mean it can’t get worse.

Here's an interesting take by Voch and Broaddus, which kinda lends itself to the notion that it will still be Parker's defense, not just his in name only:

And this smells like Jerry heard them kicking it around as an idea - and of the many football things being discussed this was the one thing he could understand - and he decided to run to the media with it.

Welcome to Big D Christian Parker. Anything you say - or even don't say - can and will be used against you.

Agreed 100%. This way media and fans cannot see Pettine relaying the defensive calls to Urkel.
