Jalen Hurts out this week due to blood clot

Man it seems like this happens too often now. Olave was another one. These guys are too young to be throwing clots. Eagles can suck it, but heal up.
Very rare for someone as active and as in shape as Jalen is, hes likely predisposed to them by an unfavorable lipid profile or that cleating really damaged that vein and then the long flight and being immobile on the way to London. Crazy though really a freak thing for someone like him.

It could be due to varicose veins as well.

My understanding of blot clots is they need to stabilize. He'll get a shot of Lovenox and then they'd typically want him on a blood thinner for 3-6 months as their is a known provocation (cleat to calf.)

The blood thinner doesnt break up the clot, but prevents further clotting development. His body has to naturally break it down. The important thing now is the clot stabilizes in place. Apparently they detected movement afrer initially clearing him to play. He cant risk it further as the clot could work its way to the heart, lungs, or brain causing a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or stroke.

Im sure a doc can and will come along shortly and correct my "understanding" though.

Point is, he could be out awhile.

Whoa, I read this from Rapaport. He had it last week but was cleared to play???

...
“On Thursday, October 8th, Jalen visited the training room after practice requesting treatment for his calf. He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th. This was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice report.

“Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walkthrough. The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia."

Scheffter saying Hurts had pain in his calf before the London game.
Could be out longer than this week.
Waiting to see if the clot moves. Probably on blood thinners as was posted above.

McKee back up QB to start.
