NFL beat writer Rick Gosselin answered your questions in a chat Thursday. Here are some highlights.

Alex-Ocala asks ... Who do you think will end up being the teams DC? It seems like Garrett wants an aggressive 3-4 and frankly, we need that. Thoughts?

RICK GOSSELIN: I think it was widely accepted in Dallas that Jones made a good choice in Garrett. But I'm not sure that it was universally regarded across the NFL as a great hire. Garrett was half to blame for that 6-10 mess of a season. He ran the offense, which turned the ballover 30 times. But no one knows how Garrett will be as a head coach. No one knew about John Harbaugh, a relative unknown hired by the Ravens. He turned into a gem -- taking Baltimore to the playoffs each of his first three seasons. No one knew about Josh McDaniels. He didn't last two season with the Broncos. I've long thought Garrett had a chance to become a great coach. But he's still at the front end of the learning curve. Time will tell.

RandB asks What changes do you see coming on Cowboys' staff? Are Pasqualoni and Campo and Houck goners? I hope so.

RICK GOSSELIN: I think come the NFL combine in February, you're going to see a coaching staff with Jason Garrett's stamp on it. Different faces, different coaching approaches and a lot of changes. What the Cowboys were doing on the field and on the sidelines wasn't working. Garrett knows that. I expect wholesale changes in both places.

I could care less what the rest of the NFL thinks of Garrett being the HC of the Dallas Cowboys. Knowledgeable Cowboys' fans know what Garrett brings to the table. This is a very good hire with the potential of being a great hire.

Goose is such a tool. Like any new coaching hire will be regarded universally as great hire? Thats one dumb idiotic statement. Unless a coach has won a SB before, even then, I doubt everyone will agree on a coach.

Thats why Goose should always stick to his Draft, anything else, usually from his pretty dumb. Like on The Ticket how they mock him about his opinions.

Hey goose, stick to the draft.

Looks like Gosselin has been sipping the devil juice again....who cares what they think, half the coaches out there I don't think are that great. And I don't think they universally agree on anything at all...

He may turn into Sean Payton, or he may turn into Josh McDaniel, but you gotta give him time......and for once, I am liking the direction it is going.

He is seen as a good enough hire that he was in pretty high demand for other teams.

Well of course no one can tell the future, but if you believe in a guy strongly, then you give him the chance. Simple.

Just when the fan base felt a moment of euphoria...Goose steps in assures us the pain isnt over yet.

So Garrett is to blame for all those tipped passes and fumbles?

I don't get that at all.

went from 1-7 to 5-3--enough said
and the majority of the NFL has bad head coaches so their opinion don't count

So basically he just ignored the question and just wanted to spout his own opinion about the hire...

I don't understand this. Not that I care what others think about Garrett but every WEEK we played as our head coach all you heard was "He was so smart we thought he'd b the president one day..." type comments.

I'm liking what he is doing. If Ryan comes aboard with Garrett it will solidify my support. Shame on me for being against Garrett at first.

Another thing to consider: We went 1-7 in the cupcake stretch of our season.

5-3 during the toughest stretch. That's not just revisionist history. That was what everyone was saying from the moment that schedule was released.

Hey Goose, shut the hell up!!!!

The only thing Goose is good for is is top 100 draft list, everything else is pure crap.

he even gets that wrong

I don't think he has ever hit a cowboy pick

He had us drafting Dez.

I'm not really sure that I care how the rest of the league feels about us hiring Garrett. I am thinking the league might be coming around though.

If you question his overall draft selections over the years - you haven't been paying attention, with all due respect.

This is just crap.

I would bet that if you poll "the nfl" that most would say that he is a positive.

Did I say that............. This is just crap.
