Rob Ryan Fired per twitter ESPNDallas **merged**

Oh for the love of God, if they hire Monte Kiffin or Wanny..

Thank God I don't own any guns.

I have three daughters and i don't think I've heard them whine collectively as much as the whining on this board tonight!

This place cracks me up!

I have no words.. Would have rather kept the whole staff together, or clean house with Garrett being canned as well.. Please get a guy in here that can run a dominant defense. When Ryan came in, we were led to believe he would run schemes that would confuse offenses & keep them on their toes, being creative with things like standing the d-line up at times, dropping d-tackles into coverage while blitzing 2 LB's. I hardly ever saw this guy try and get creative with his defense going back to last year and even when his team was healthy this season. Now you better go get your o-coordinator & bring in a great "proven" defensive mind, not some guy who talks & has a couple games against Brady & Brees where he catches the eye of some people

So basically Haslett rubbed Jerry's nose in it as they were eliminated because that was the style he wanted to play.:laugh2:

I don't think this is about what Rob did or didn't do. This is about how to go forward. I know for a fact that many college coaches that have to deal with the no huddle spread offenses believe that 4-3 personnel is they way to go. If your base defense has 4 down lineman and linebackers that can run, you can match up better without having to sub in while the offense is in no huddle. I don't know if Jerry and Jason feel this way or not, but they are not alone if they do.

come on people, you really think Lovie would come here as a Def. Coordinator when there are plenty of HC options available?

i'm all for optimism, but that's just wishful thinking

Why not? Howdie Doodie is on borrowed time and Lovie would know this. Do you really think that RED will make it through next season with mediocrisy?

This may have been mentioned already...

Could this possibly be a case where JJ has put the pressure on Garrett, telling him that he goes into next year on a hot seat...and Garrett's response was...then let me have a chance to pick my guys to work with.

Any shot that this happened?

I kid...I kid....but he'd be a decent choice if he didn't carry all that baggage.

My preferences:

1) Lovie Smith

2) Ray Horton

3) Romeo Crennel

Ryan has a head start on unemployment as he already looks like he's a homeless bum.

The absolute worst choice that could be made. He's done his job better than any of the other public major components of this organization. We are screwed.

Could the Cowboys look to the college ranks for a coordinator? Garrett worked with Todd Grantham, Georgia’s defensive coordinator when Grantham coached the Cowboys defensive line under Wade Phillips. Grantham has an attacking style and has a defense that is filled with NFL-ready players. Given his SEC ties, he could provide some good insight on players in the draft. He also has NFL coordinator experience (Cleveland) and, like Garrett, worked for Nick Saban.

this is actually intriguing

Actually, if we're sticking with the 3-4, Crennel probably is the most likely of the three. He's already out there and he isn't going to be hired by anyone as a head coach again. Horton might take a head coaching job or just stay where he is. Lovie is probably going to end up as someone's head coach.

Such superlatives thrown around so loosely.

Let's see. They aren't the best ILB pairing in the league. They certainly weren't this year. They barely played together. When Carter was emerging, Lee was on crutches. Ware was a shell of his former self this year. Hatcher and terrific should only be used together in this sentence - Jason Hatcher isn't terrific. Brent didn't have a fine year. He was decent and improving before the incident. Coleman is a marginal player at best. As is Spears. Lissemore is just okay. Ratliff wasn't on the field and looks to be in rapid physical decline. Crawford was a raw rookie.

Front seven not good enough. No team allows the QB production we did without serious issues along the front seven. That's where it all happens. This is why nothing changes despite adding cornerback after cornerback. Sign two more this spring. Nothing will change. I promise you.

So now you switched to this team D-Line now. Didn't you want all of Jerry's resources spent on the O-line? When did you change your tune?

....good point Kristen....you are fully credible on the subject of hygiene and hotness...IMHO:bow:

That's because of all the injuries.

Oh, that's right, that was before the injuries.

Gosh, maybe Ryan wasn't and isn't a good DC.

That's a good point but I think its mitigated some by a few things. First I'm not a huge Carr fan. I don't know what to think of him actually. But he didn't set the world on fire. I do blame the lack of safety help, later the ILB problem and also playing him in zone instead of pressure. See above.

Scandrick is inconsistent.

Jenkins is an enigma and was hurt early on and I actually don't remember when he started playing much.

And Mo was a rookie who later starting playing better. I think those take out the early part of the schedule at least some.

Lol you are only a fan because it wasn't Garrett. Same as 90% in this thread.

Bull****. Yes, Garret should have been the first one gone. 2nd thing, I don't need a Jones and Jason lover telling me to get over it like you did. I am sick of Jones, and his tool fans. He has turned this franchise into an embarrassment. Do you realize since our last Super Bowl the Raiders, Falcons, and Bears have been there? Does that shame you enough? I'm guessing no. I try to be as posotive as i can during the season, but crap like this has me pissed. What pisses me off even more is when supposed fans come out in support of the status quo. Those 90's SB wins weren't because of Jerry. They belonged to Jimmy. This franchise was great before Jerry ever appeared on the scene. I became a fan and started watching in the 77 season when we got Dorsett as a rookie, but beat the Broncos in the SB. We lost the next year to the stillers. Years went by before we reached our next, and it was glorious. Not so much beating the bills in the SB, but smacking the whiner fans in the process. It was pent up rage finally being released upon the whiner tards and their catch. That was Jimmy. Not jerry. The glory of the Cowboys has nothing to do with Jerry. The mediocrity and commercial success is Jerry's legacy. The stupidity of jerry not knowing where to start cutting people shows once again. Garret failed this team. Garret does not know what the hell he is doing. Who does jones go after? Ryan of course who did a pretty good job with that banged up crew. Makes perfect sense in Jerry Jones World. Yes, i am mad. And don't ever try to make being loyal to jerry a measure if you are a cowboy fan. I really hope i am wrong and that isn't what you were doing.

Well Jerry is an idiot. Romo threw up 5 interceptions against Chicago. Geez, this has me really worried that Jerry has ANY say whatsoever.

When we were still in the game Cutler carved us up while throwing up stinkers in the previous 2 games.
