Any watching this game?

1st game for Pitt in the ACC, so the home crowd and team were really fired up.
They took an early lead and then this Freshman QB for FSU just took over.
All I can is WOW.

It's halftime. Fla St is up 28-10. 4TDs
But the story is Winston. Lasar arm.
17-18, 240 yards. And the only incompletion was when the guy caught it out of bounds.

Watching the game now, very impressive kid. Alabama native, how did Nick Saban fail to recruit this kid?

I think Fisher should have challenged on that catch out of bounds.....it was really close. I think he may have dragged the one foot before the other landed out of bounds. but yes, this kid is showing to be a big time player in only his first game.

5TDs and counting.

Also, the kid is a Major League Baseball prospect.
Jeesh

Winston looked really good but tap the breaks a bit(there are people talking heisman). A lot of those passes lacked zip. The Pitt defense was tremendously porous.

For a freshman tho that kid is as good as I've seen this early. ---Tho Manziel was awful goo by week 4 or 5.

He recruited the heck out of him but the Bama offense is a run heavy offense. It's not a QB showcase offense. He just had no interest in going to Bama and 1 sitting for a year and 2 playing in an offense that didn't allow him to do it all.

Plus, FSU has one of the best NCAA Baseball programs going. That probably helped too.

Talked to my FSU fan buddy about this. He's basically EJ Manuel, extremely talented, but raw talent at that. One matchup we talked about was At Clemson in late October, I'm excited to see if he can stay strong in a shootout the way EJ did last year.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston: ‘If I’d gotten offered, I’d be going to Texas right now’

if that doesn't cause Longhorns tears then nothing will....

They should be used to it. They haven't made offers to many good QBs over the last several years.

This young man looked more impressive in one game than either E.J. Manuel or Christian Ponder every looked during this FSU careers.

I don't really see that to tell the truth. Manuel was always a guy who felt more comfortable taking off. I think Winston is probably already a better passer at a similar point in development. I posted this in another thread but when I see him, he kinda reminds me of a young Doug Williams at Grambling State, just a little bit.

And he wanted to go to Texas.
The Horns missed again at QB

Yeah, sounds like he did. However, I'm going to reserve judgement, just a little bit on this. Manziel wanted to go to Texas also and after he won the Heisman, the villagers were out in force with tar and feathers but now, in retrospect, I'm thinking Texas was wise not to sign him. I guess we'll see but yeah, I know what you mean DFW. It's hard to watch that guy put up a sawbuck of TDs and not kick your own backside a few times. LOL........

UT was not wise to pass on Manziel.
UT QB play has been the main reason they've been underachieving.

I am no TAMU fan but Manziel is a friggin stud.

The issue with Winston is the kid was on the ESPN Elite 11 and the entire country saw he was a beast.
Any team not recruiting him is stupid. Seriously stupid.
Mack is trying to sell that they really didn't have a shot except Winston himself says that he begged UT to offer.

Another reason Mack needs to retire if you are a Longhorn fan.

That's your opinion JT and at this point, it is definitely in question. You can not say they made a poor decision, based on how Manziel's situation is currently playing out.

As for Winston, I am more inclined to agree with you here. Obviously, he still has a lot of football in front of him but based on what we've all seen to this point, it's really hard to make a case for passing him up. The only real reason I could see is that he might elect to play Pro Baseball and he's said a few times that he intends to stay in school. Now, that could change if he gets drafted highly enough but still, you almost have to take a kid like Winston if he's available to you.

When I think of missed opportunites at QB for UT, my first thoughts are Andrew Luck and RG3.

ROFL. Yes I can say that based upon what has played out.
Manziel is the Heisman trophy holder.
The fact he is a typical frat brat hardly negates that fact.

He is a far better player than any UT QB.
As is Winston.
That is plainly obvious even with Ash finally waking up versus new mexico state in the 2nd half.

UT has been terrible at selecting QBs.
I just watched Gilbert live for SMU and he was mediocre.
Far below the Tech walk on true freshman that happened to come out of the same High School program.
Case McCoy was terrible.
Ash has been poor as well to this point.

2 years of quality play from Manziel is darn sure worth a 'ship.
Especially when half the kids never even see the field at all.

and Drew Brees out of Austin, Manziel and now Winston.

They've had their pick of the litter EVERY YEAR and flat whiffed more times than not.

Winston is just really hard to understand having watched the Elite 11. When Dilfer is nearly in tears and basically adopting you that might be a kid to recruit.

You can say that and you can add that this is your opinion. Other then that, you can say squat because IMO, passing on Manziel is not looking like all that bad a decision at this point.
