I'm posting this question just to get some folks thoughts on what a proven head coach would do with multiple skins on the wall as they say. I'd add my own thought in a bit once I get to work.

It is so hard to say. But this is just my gut feeling....If he was the head coach, I dont think the Lions or Packers game slips away.

we don't lose those close games as has been mentioned (add in a potential win against KC); plus, we don't get blown out against NO & Chic

A lot of our aging vets would have have been traded for future draft picks rather than being perpetually extended beyond their expiration dates

excellent point. You know, as I am thinking about this hypothetical with Belichick, it just kind of hit me...it really isnt easy these days being a Cowboys fan, is it? And before someone says "fine go pick another team"....thats not possible to do.

You guessed it. The answer in my opinion is we would easily have won the division. We also would have won the Division if Sean Peyton was the coach and at least he was available for Jerry to take. Belichick would have gotten rid the the veterans a year early versus two years late. We wouldn't be in salary cap hell either. In short we would be a pretty darn good team.

Leave to work for a less invasive owner

If Belicheat was our coach he most likely would have tossed most of the team out of the plane at 30,000 feet flying back from Chicago.

And here you hit on something that can't be highlighted enough in the era of FA. A coach that can get the best out of players week in, week out, is a precious commodity. I think Jimmy Johnson used to say that just playing smart every Sunday will beat half the teams in the league, given a similar level of talent. The Cowboys would be riding high at 9-5 and would have a real chance of double-digit wins, something absent in Dallas since 2009.

Be a serious contenter every year. No question.

Id for one would love to see what would happen. They are having a bad time with injuries as well and have basically a group of very pedestrian receivers and are sitting at what 10-4 now?

He'd also be banned for lie because of Spygate, because Kraft wouldn't be the owner. Jerry's World would also be up-to-date with the greatest spy technology ever.

Do you remember when Troy Brown was playing DB and the Pats suspect D used t fill holes and somehow hold up to win games. That's what would have happened here. People don't like to give Bill his du sometimes but the guy is a great coach because he understands that a few plays here and there win games. He also understand when its time for players to go. Given some leeway, this would be a far different team.
