For some odd ball reason, I have gotten on the Martini band wagon
My favorite is the James Bond martini Gordon's gin, Lillet, absolut and dry vermouth except I like olives over lemon

Anyone have some good Martini recipes they can share.

Grey Goose martini is a close second

I have noticed I like my Martini shaken not stirred, hard to believe there is a difference but there is.

Dry vodka martini shaken with extra olives is the way to go!

Grey Goose Martini: 3 parts Vodka to 1 part Vermouth. 3 Olives.

Shaken hard and poured with tiny ice crystals to make an unbelievably cold Martini.

I stay away from the flavoured Martinis. Chocolate, Raspberry and the rest of the fruit universe.

If it doesn't remind you of your grandmother's rubbing alcohol it isn't a Martini.

I also like the glass chilled. Either chill them in your freezer or fill the glass with ice and top off with water. Let it set for a few minutes while you make the martini.

Pomegranate Kiss - mainly for the ladies(wives and girlfriends)

-Greygoose(or any favorite) vodka, cointreau, monin pomegranate, monin cherry & lemonade
-Sugar the rim on an ice cold glass
-add a splash of blue curacao if you like

I am not a fan of a basic martini, especially gin and I hate olives :)

Girl ones. I don't care how it looks.
Give me juice and flavored vodkas. Cosmo? sure !

Grape Crush!
Like a BOSS!

Shaking dilutes the alcohol and can render it 50% less potent. A properly made martini should be stirred.

For being less potent it still kicks my butt. Believe me I can drink some booze with the best of them

I have 4 martini glasses in freezer most of the time. I just really like the liquor to be cold. Colder than my favorite beer

That is more along the thinking when it comes to a Gin martini. Vodka martini you definitely want to shake.

Of course this all comes down to personal preferences.

Bombay saphire dirty with onions...and yes ice cold glass. where it gets slivers of ice floating in it. Two of those and im good to go..any more and there could be problems..like 'hey lets go to the strip club' problems

I'm sorry people. There is only one martini. It is made with gin. You can put olives in it. You can go with onions (that's actually a Gibson).

If you put Vodka in it, you just want the image without the steep learning curve on the taste. You aren't embracing the challenge. You might as well drink a wine cooler and be done with it.

Well that is one way to describe it. There is a martini and whether you agree with it there is a vodka martini. Obviously two separate drinks and no reason to make a big deal about it.

Disagree. Someone has to defend the noble martini.

That's fine. As a former bartender I can tell you they are considered two different drinks. The confusion occurs when someone orders a "Martini" thinking there is a choice between gin or vodka. There is a Martini which is made with gin. Then there is a Vodka Martini.
