Cowboys have Trent Cole on FA wish list

No better revenge for Cole on Philly by letting him take it to them twice a year.

Pass. id rather keep spencer on the cheap than waste money on this JAG

Cole didn't look like same player this year for Eagles this year. One of reason Eagles have stayed competitive for long time is they know when to cut bait. I wouldn't give him much money but I do think marinelli could squeez few more sacks out of him.

I have.

7 sacks, 14 QB hits, 26 pressures in 834 snaps. BUT he only rushed the passer 76% of the time (keep in mind Philly made him a 3-4 OLB).

I could see the guy being a good pickup at a reasonable contract.

Key component.

He last reached double digit sacks in 2011 (regardless of scheme):

Trent Cole

2014: 6.5 sacks (15 games played $6.6 million cap hit)

Jeremy Mincey:

2014: 6 sacks (16 games played $1.25 million cap hit)

Yes! I see a VAST improvement now that it's all laid out.

You have to remember he was playing as a 3-4 OLB in Philly, I think he has something left in the tank, especially as DE.

Cole has been around for awhile. I would go for Orakpo.
But in our situation either would help.

I would only explore Cole and Orakpo if Hardy is priced out of our range.

As far as Im concerned he is the priority and everything else falls in behind him.

Sorry fellow, Hardy is not on Dallas' radar. He is not coming to Dallas period.
Keep looking for other bargain bin players and you'll sleep better at night.

Might try looking at Tyson Alualu or Adrian Clayborn and you'll be in the same zipcode as Dallas is shopping.

Gosh, you're right.

They had similar sack numbers.

Similar positions too...

Mincey was a 4-3 DE.

Cole was former 4-3 DE, who was playing a 3-4 OLB.

Mincey's job was to stop the run and rush the passer.

Cole's job was to stop the run, rush the passer and go out into coverage.

Oh.

As a side note he's not going to be offered $6.6mil by the Cowboys.

The Eagles fans would go crazy if Cowboys signed Trent Cole and won the super bowl.:lmao:

The part that concerns me is year 2012. He was still a DE playing all 16 games, yet only managed 3 sacks. I'm not convinced he is worthy of a large investment from our limited resources. Maybe if he comes at a generous deal.

There is a reason Cole is on the street. He's older and Philly is just practicing letting older players
go 1 yr. early rather than 1 yr. late. Dallas should look for younger, cheaper, ready to breakout/comebak
players rather than those getting ready for the retirement line.

There's merit in what you've posted.

I don't think the Cowboys would be looking to drop a 4 year/$20 mil contract on the guy.

I would see him as a relatively cheap pickup who could come in and contribute 400 snaps a season.

Think designated pass-rusher like Fred Dean or Jim Jeffcoat.

No, a Cole signing wouldn't solve all of the Cowboys pass rush issues, but he could be a contributing piece.

Here's another part of that article.....

This sort of "wish list'' likely has names above Cole, 32. Jerry Hughes, Scout.com is reporting, is seeking in excess of $8 mil a year to stay in Buffalo. **click-bait**.com was the first to report of Dallas' exploration of Greg Hardy of Carolina, despite the behavioral storm clouds -- and we predict the Cowboys will eventually sour on this idea. Brandon Graham, also of the Eagles, was drafted high in 2010 but has been pushed out of position from end to outside linebacker. The Ravens' Pernell McPhee projects very well as a full-time rusher in a 4-3 front.

It's a ******** article full of speculation and guesses based on the fact that Dallas needs a pass rushing DE. That being said if Dallas wants to be be fiscally sound but have a chance to score big, my vote is for Brandon Graham. He's finally healthy and a few years removed from a devastating injury. Plus I'm a Michigan homer so there is also that haha

As a pash rush specialists I like it.

Always liked his 4 point track stance he played out wide. Hell, if he gets 6 sacks its a success IMO!
