I just think the hurt over losing Murray has to die down. Lots of people in storm-the-castle mode over a guy who fumbled in the clutch and won't sniff 1,800 yards ever again.

In fairness AP only went over 1,800 one time in his career. You are right putting a big season like that is not going to happen every year even for one of the all time great RB but does not mean he will not be very effective. With Ryan Mathews and Sproles he likely will not get the carries either

Feel like this is another Jerry dare. Like when he said anyone can coach that team in the 90s. Now we are saying anyone can run behind that line. Challenge accepted

I don't see the big deal. He is insurance so they don't have to reach in the draft. I still bet money they grab a running back in the top three rounds and either a rookie or Williams is the lead back in week 1.

I have no issue with this as long as we also look TB in the draft.

McFadden has been an injured bum. No questin about that. But he's also a very talented injured bum. Taking a flier on him for cheap and then still going TB in the draft is fine by me.

I mean I certainly wouldn't complain about a TB depth chart of some mix of Dunbar/Randle/Williams/McFadden and then one of Gurley/Gordon/Coleman/Langford.

I feel like because of one year we are being disillusioned that we can just plug anyone in and that person will be a stud. Playing with fire

I don't gamble anymore but I'm highly confident our YPC in 2015 will be as high or higher than it was in 2014.

The upside is that he is probably really cheap and if he can stay healthy, could prove a nice addition. He will have to prove it in training camp but there isn't really a downside here I imagine.

The downside is that his name will keep him on the roster and we will cut better players.
You Ryan Williams fans better realize that we will draft a back still so it will be McFadden , draft pick, and only 1 more roster spot. Typically that spot is for a 3rd down back. So Ryan Williams and Randle will be the odd men out.

I told you guys. this is a great move. and i have been one of the people who have been hard on Jerry and Stephen. McFadden running behind this line could be special.he can run between the tackles, and is a home run hitter.

Great point.

Many seem to refuse that offensive line can have a great deal to do with how successful a running back is.

I don't mind it, considering his talent level, which was much higher than Murray's at one point. I don't watch the Raiders, but from all we know, they were and are a mess. I wonder if those 5 YPC were when Cable was their coach and they had that nice run, the point being their coaching was decent and things were looking upward. Then he was fired without any real justification and back to the Raiders of old. When Pollack came, maybe it was just the same old Raiders. Off the top of my head, Cable coaches the Seattle OL now I think.

This is a different team, with our OL and Romo. Teams can't stack the box against us and no matter how good Murray was for us, he wasn't a home-run hitter. McFadden, from what I've seen, when he gets it going in the open field, he runs uphill and flies down the field.

I actually watched a raider game last season, the raiders oline were OK at run blocking but DMC would just hit the line and fall down.

From much of what I read the Raiders did poor job using him. They would run to his weakness and wouldn't use him as a receiver out of the backfield either which is something he excels at. Not a horrible signing not great either. But if it is true he is pile magnet I guess the legacy of JuJo lives on in another running back.

The Cowboys go from a guy who runs to and through contact to a guy who can't break arm tackles, and gets hurt doing that. I would much rather have seen Stevan Ridley as a VFA. Still hoping for Todd Gurley or David Johnson in the draft.

I like just bringing a vet with upside in for a few dollars just to see if anything sticks. I am sure it's not a deal that guarantees him a roster spot.

McFadden is pretty much like Murray before Murray got injured. He has talent but can't stay healthy.

At this point kick the tires and see what he has.... At best a release after camp. Think that with this and Ryan Williams we are going to draft a RB who will be the lead person this or next year....
