In August, we passed along a tidbit from the book Manziel Mania, which claimed that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was so close to drafting quarterback Johnny Manziel that Jones’s son Stephen had to take the card with Manziel’s name on it out of Jerry’s hand. Little did we know that the story of the author…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2323754&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

Instead of going off on a moral sermon I'll just say I hope Dent gets the help he needs.

Great writer, but he should never walk the streets again as a free man. 10 DWIs? Unreal - he's lucky he hasn't killed anyone.

No ****, if you have to drink too much, why cant you just get a cab, an Uber, call a friend, anything but drive! What is so friggin hard about this concept?

Wow, talk about not learning from your mistakes. He's already done a stint in the TDC back about 5 or so years ago.

When will you figure out that drunks do not make wise decisions?

This is no surprise.

People expect a drunk to be responsible enough to get a cab??

HE's DRUNK !! ... he is not going to make good decisions.

he's had sober time also. it's pretty hard to be drunk 24x7. in any event, he's made some horrible choices that are beyond defensible and was given every chance to stop. you don't have to go out to get drunk, just to get the alcohol.

He should of lived in MD they do not lock up DUI/DWI offenders.

Morality aside, how does the legal system support this?

You know, that beats the hell out of me. Every so often stories like this get attention and without fail I always wonder what the DA is thinking. At least put them on house arest with an ankle bracelet.

From what I read in the article, this Dent guy had an ankle monitor and took it off.

They tried that, but I think that was around #5 and he removed it. I have no tolerance for repeat offender drunk drivers. Obviously the system failed in multiple areas.

Probably away from alcohol, he is totally different and possibly a first class guy.

It's a shame he has let alcohol control and ruin his life.

I have a friend from high school that did the same thing, ... lost his wife, his job, his house, his truck, custody of his daughter. He is in his 60's, lives in his parents basement, and has to walk everywhere.

Just an FYI. Doubtful Jerry had a card in his hand. Maybe they were talking about it.
The one place whare a card counts is at the draft table - where the Cowboy agent - fills it out and then turns it into the NFL.

I have a friend that drinks and drives all the time, and when I tell him he or someone else will regret someday, he says he does not worry because he is in AA and has AAA Insurance...

He needs one of those devices installed into his cars ignition that you have to breathe into and will not start the vehicle if alcohol is detected.

Jerry was making a joke and of course the media ran with it.
