Fast Food Breakfast Taste Test: Who Takes the Crown?

Fast food restaurants have finally realized there’s an untapped market in the early hours of the day. McDonald’s istesting offering it all day. Taco Bell is adding new breakfast items to the menu. In a field traditionally dominated by Starbucks and McDonald’s, recently White Castle, Burger King and Taco Bell have all stepped up their early day game.

With so many options available to grab a speedy bite and a coffee, Yahoo Food is here to help. I took on the arduous task or trying all of the above-mentioned establishments, as well as Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks to see which one takes the cake in this breakfast battle royal.

How to compare? At each restaurant, I ordered one bacon,egg, and cheese sandwich, one sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, a coffee, and hash browns, and evaluated them on price, speed of order time, and overall satisfaction.

The results:

Chik-Fil-A anything is the devil... I just had it for lunch... 2nd time this week. 4th time overall, because I had it for breakfast, too. smh @ me.

1. McDonalds - Better choices
2. Dunkin' Donuts - Solid chicken applesausage sandwich
3. Starbucks - turkey backon muffin w/my usual coffee.
4. Burger King - haven't had it in years
5. Taco Bell - never had it. never will probably
5. White Castle - Ditto taco bell

They also left off Jack in the Box too. Can never go wrong with a Breakfast Jack in the middle of the day.

For breakfast, I usually just get some breakfast tacos from some local taqueria, it's Texas, it's what you do. You can't go wrong, always fresh, fast, good and inexpensive.
On the rare times I get a fast food breakfast, Carl's Jr. biscuits are surprisingly good.

On the East coast it's Hardee's (owned by Carl's Jr.), and you're right, they are good.

5 Guys does breakfast in the Atlanta airport. I don't know if they have breakfast anywhere else, but it is very good. It's the best I've ever had of fast food places. The service has always been outstanding too. The other breakfast places are okay. I go to where it's the closest when I'm traveling. I rarely have it when I'm at home.

Cinnamon Rolls - Whataburger.

starbucks coffee is probably the only thing that i've had from any of these places since becoming an adult.

So give me a small coffee black.... (refuse to call it "grande" or whatever they want to call it)

I think McDonalds is best overall.

Lord knows I've tried finding something better over the years but the article writer is correct... The Egg McMuffin just stomps it.

Also luv their Breakfast Burrito's.

And yeah Dunkin Donuts coffee rules.
