Hardy Done? Cowboys won't bring back Hardy? *merged*

Won't help. No rookie or free agent is gonna make our secondary into an actual secondary and our pass rush an actual pass rush.

have you watched the nfl over the last 15 years? teams can come from the bottom to the top in just one year. we have the money and the early draft picks to get us there

He partied. The only athlete in the history of the Cowboys to have done so during the season.

He could have partied, missed meetings, be late to meetings, tweet silly crap, act a fool on the sidelines, turn off team mates for various reasons behind the scenes and if he produced good to great numbers he would still be here next season.

He did not produce the numbers to offset the negative stuff so he is a goner.

Wow, didn't know bottom dwelling defenses can become elite in one year.

The right decision.

You sell out when you are 1 player away. The Cowboys aren't and Hardy didn't look anything like he was that "1 player" anyway.

Build the roster through the draft and through free agent upgrades that don't generate all the buzz in the world. Stay away from players who are liabilities no matter how sweet the deal is. Let someone else deal with the headache. It's hard enough manage a roster of 60 or so guys. Adding in toddlers who need babysitting is just an unneeded distraction and wasted energy.

This.

I said way back when the Cowboys would re-sign Hardy if (BIG IF) they determined he could produce at a high level and, his challenges were worth it. They must have determined he was not worth it.

I don't fault the Cowboys. You are pressured to take advantage of Romo while he's still playing at a high level....you can't do that just by going by the draft. So how do you get that quick fix? You take shots. You took a shot on Hardy and it didn't work. I'd bring him back but if they feel he's disrupting the locker room then he shouldn't be brought back.

I prefer Hardy to be resign but I understand the reason due to his issues.

My only concern is that Demarcus L. benefited from Hardy so now the team has to find a replacement.

Also, I hope Dallas does not go away from picking a QB and decides to select a DE. The QB position must be addressed first in the draft before the DE unless the QBs are off the board and DE is the BPA.

They needed pass rush, it was one year deal, they were close they year before. I don't think this was so bad.

Well I think it's safe to say the result speaks for itself. He surely didn't do much of anything to make himself invaluable.

As it is, the staff will evidently be quite relieved to get rid of him. It was bad enough to render him expendable. Enough said.

i swear to god - am i the only person who doesn't feel a players value should be summed up in how they helped ANOTHER player, not their own results?

This defense is a disaster.

We can't properly address the secondary b/c the dline and lbs groups keep imploding.

There is a lot to be done on the defensive side of the ball. That much is certain. It's not all going to be done in one year either, unfortunately.

Well he did produce later in the season; however that's when Hardy started playing after his suspension. I'm not taking anything away from Demarcus; I just feel he benefited from Hardy and Demarcus took advantage of that.

You absolutely do not know that. FA hasn't even begun.

How many free agents can you name the past decade that have made a "significant" impact with the Cowboys? One of their big free agent signings a few years ago was Carr who's been nothing but a liability.

I was conflicted about bringing Hardy in to begin with. He was such a beast on the field, but such a total piece of trash off the field. Now after seeing him play, and hearing about him being late and out of shape all season, I say good riddance. The juice ain't worth the squeeze.
