Would you have traded Leary & 2nd rounder for Chandler Jones?

No and its because I would not want to give up the depth along with a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I would do Leary and a 3rd as low as Arizona's though

You get 2 years out of Chandler Jones for 22m and then you get a 3rd round comp when he walks.

The only question is how far along is he in the drug program.

Has he already tested positive for anything outside of the synthetic weed rumors (those don't show on tests)? Honest Q. That stuff is terrible for you though; basically smoking potpourri

Draft picks are way too important for us this year to give away.

Is there a player in this draft that could come in and make an immediate impact like Chandler Jones could have for us? Probably not, but we're in position to take some pretty solid players and I don't think I'd want to depart with any of our top 3 draft picks.

IIRC, synthetic marijuana isn't part of the drug program, believe it or not.

It doesn't show up in blood, hair and pee tests so I can see why they can't add it, etc. That's the primary reason for its sudden popularity (drug testing @ the workplace). Then it transferred bc of easy access for teens bc they are sold as air fresheners and incense with labels "not for human consumption" .

Leary is a starting guard which is much harder to find than another TE. Even if Chandler is good at
blocking he's still worth less than Leary. I hope the Cowboys are able to keep him around because
he's not a bad player. Besides, we just signed our blocking TE back.

Uh........what?

No.

And if I've read this board correctly the patriots do no wrong.

So them wanting to get rid of a player should raise major Red flags.

So many that I would think the question need not be asked.

Probably right, but he did show up to the Police station half naked freaking out.

Sometimes the league acts without a positive test when players get arrested.

No doubt. If I were a team facing having to resign him, I would have some real questions.

Yes. It would be a proactive move to get better. So far this offseason has been a dud. Not expecting them to splurge on FAs but it looks like the draft is where they are putting all their chips in. They better get it right.

In a second I would have. If you get Chandler, then you don't have to be forced to over pay for a second tier DE or be forced to overpay for Hardy. Chandler would not be cheap but then again, in four seasons, he's had two double digit sack years. You can use a top 5 pick this year and not be guaranteed that you will get a DE that will be able to produce double digit sacks in a single season.

I think we overvalue draft picks the close it is to the draft.
Jones is averaging 10 sacks per year while not rushing passer full time. I am not sure how many 1st rounders can do that.

What I worry about is that if Patriots knows something we don't about his "issues" possibly substances? The article by Peter King is BS. You don't trade away your best pass rusher not even in his prime yet because you worry about paying him.

I personally think that the Cardinals got a beating on this deal.

I liked Cooper coming out. Thought he was can't miss from watching him at UNC. I mean, he had everything. I am not sure what has transpired with him in Az but it's hard to imagine that he was that big a miss with his talent. There has to be more to it. I know he's had some injury issues but still.

It was a hypothetical since the trade with ARI already happened

We couldn't hypothetically trade him before the trade with Arizona, either. We'd need to hypothetically sign him to a hypothetical contract before we could hypothetically trade him.
