Merle Haggard died today. He was really a great performer and I will miss him.

RIP Merle Ronald Haggard
April 6, 1937 – April 6, 2016

Crap...

He was a legend... RIP Okie from Muskogee...

Crushed! Love the dude. Misery and Gin is one of the best country songs ever written and I don't even like country. I'm afraid Willie is going to be right behind him.

Oh, Man. This might be worse than losing Glen Frey.

What a shame...RIP, Merle...I have always loved your music.

ABQJr. is away on travel this week but I texted him and told him that Merle died today. He told me that that was no good and that it was time to listen to some Eric Church and he sent me a link to this tune. Figured I'd share it.

Pledge Allegiance To The Hag - Eric Church

If we're doing that, here's the one I thought of, with the obvious 'leaving' implications:

Great tune...

I guess the the good times are really over for good... :(

I've never been a huge country music fan, but I like some of the old stuff including Merle's. Both my older brothers LOVED him and saw him live several times. A true legend.... RIP Merle.

One of my favorite artists. The music industry will never be the same. RIP

Great musician. I was talking to my dad once about how haggard was a guy who would sing about living in a hobo jungle, but also be singing about loving his country. Dude was legit and authentic. There are others like him around but they don't play them on the radio. They're just making their way in smaller venues in Lubbock and stephenville.
