He's such a wild card, but he honestly has the potential to be an elite pass rusher. He has been too raw to be a consistent pass rusher up to this point, but if he can learn how to use his long arms with technique than he can have an Aldon Smith type of impact. There's no telling if he puts all together this season, but no one can stop him from getting double digit sacks but himself.

7-10 is doable but it depends on getting reps and health. I'd be happy with 6 if he's limited...

im very interested to know everyones' thoughts on Irving. He flashed big time in a 2-3 games last year, and for someone who was on the Chiefs practice squad it was very impressive and promising.

Side question: Can we make he's nickname Lighting McQueen? Lol c'mon he's #95 AND has the streak in his hair!
Here's what we have to go on: last year he flashed and recently a picture was released with him being shredded like he's been training for a fight. So the dude has clearly been putting in work.

I went with 5 to 7 sacks. He is capable of doing more, but I'm hoping the sacks he doesn't get are only because someone else got there first.

It depends on his reps. If he's getting limited reps like he did last year, he's JAG. He'll be in his third year, this is a put up or shut up year for him. He has unbelievable size, quickness, and has some nice moves at the point of attack. If the light doesn't turn on this year, it will show why he didn't produce enough in college and he was deserving of being an undrafted FA.

He has played lean since we stole him from KC, more due to age than anything, young, very green coming in, but I'm hoping that Irving added some weight to his core.
The strength will come if he maintains his high motor.
Was also hoping that Ware would be coaching these young ends,

I think Irving is the biggest key to our DL next year, other than the health of Crawford and DLaw. Irving should improve but the question is how much. If he takes as big a jump in performance this year as next year he clearly could hit 10 sacks, though that isn't really the right metric if he is the starting LDE.

But think about Irving at LDE with a healthy DLaw at RDE, with Taco, Mayowa and Tapper rotating in. (Switch Taco and DLaw if you want). Then Collins, Crawford, Thornton and Paea at DT. That might not be a dominant group, but if everyone is healthy its a very good one.

I think it depends on Rod, if Rod commits to getting after the QB, let Irving do his thing. If he cant produce, rotate him in, if he can, great, take him as far as he can go. Its more about what the coaches do and see vs what we think. I just hope its more on the coaches stopping him than it is his own talent. Lets get back to getting at the QB all day every day.

If Irving follows what might simply be a normal rate of progress, he should be able to manage about 7 sacks this year. I believe he's been getting better, bigger and stronger since his arrival with the Cowboys. Coupled with several other "rushmen" in Dallas' stable, the pass rush should hope to improve considerably over what we saw in 2016. If it somehow fails to do so, the team will certainly be obliged to secure more help for the DL as they continue onward into future years.
