We need to finish off teams easier

One of my biggest concerns about this team thats been played over and over is that we still have trouble putting a fork in a team. We squander great opportunities to finish off teams only to let them right back into the game.

We let the Cardinals right back into this game when we should have just finished them off when they punted on 4th down. A few good plays with a bit of luck on the Cardinals part could have tied this game up.

We got possession, had a great chance to run down the clock be we couldn't gain an inch. I think its due in part to bad play calling at that crucial time.

The main problem is from there, we had to brawl our way to victory in the last 2 minutes and it shouldn't have been that hard. This is where injuries can happen when you play hard when you shouldn't really have to. It could have been much easier on the team. Shaun Lee was cramping and he will feel it all week and D. L. seemed to tweak his knee etc. It does provide good practice but it definitely puts un-needed wear and tear on the team.

I think we need better play calling when we have the game in our grasp. That power run behind Fredrick was effective in the last quarter and that would wear down the defense; maybe a series of those.

We won by 2 scores in their house, AND it was our 2nd consecutive road game.

We also won week 1 by 2 scores.

Stop it with the nonsense.

Ya'll complain when we lose and when we win you complain that we didn't win "good enough".

Don't turn this place into a clown show.

Not gonna win the big one letting teams back into the game. Atlanta learned that lesson. The Cowboys will do good, but the consensus is the people on the forum want a bit better than good.

A concern of not being able to gain an inch on 4 downs with the offesive line we have it not non-sense.

Its early, let the season play out and we'll see.

same argument every year "IF you are going to tell me Dallas is a contender, they have to play like a contender" "we are dominating the W column" Reality "How many tickets would Dallas like to watch the play offs?"

Would anyone believe a 13-3 team, home field advantage and a bye week go home their first game of the play offs? no.

This team still has a lot problems and while getting a win is great, it doesnt make the other problems go away.

Getting conservative in the first quarter was a no no and yes Garrett and previous coaches have a problem with finishing strong.

Uh, I didn't see that. We put up 14 points in the 4th quarter.
We also didn't allow Arizona to come back either. Considering we gave up a total of 3 points in the 4th quarter.
Yes, they drove down the field on their final possession. But we stood tall in the redzone.

We had a 2 possession lead. The #1 objective is to milk the clock. We weren't up by 3-6 points. It was 11.

True but winning and knowing there are a lot of young guys out there who are still learning and developing and yet still win is big. Is this team in mid season form? No. Cowboys will have to go out and fight for wins and I do think some of these young guys will become bigger impact players as they move forward.

Considering the offense only had 3 plays in the first quarter-- I'll take 28 points, 6 sacks and a W on the road any day of the week.

And if winning by 2 possessions isn't "putting a fork" in a team in today's parity driven NFL-- maybe your expectations are a bit too high.

We failed in milking the clock that was my point. We had possession couldn't gain a micrometer and gave back the ball. We let them back in and had to work our butts off to defensively to hold them. It shouldn't have been that hard causing wear and tear on the players.

If you're Ok with a winning record and the team staying home for the Championship game (s) then this team did great and I have no argument. I stand corrected.

totally agree with this. heck i was calling to let the season play out regardless as long as the defense learns and plays. But the implementation of the mindset to finish has to come up because Garrett has not installed it even with vets.

I'll bet you'll see this exact same thread title over on the Cardinals boards today.

Sorry I disagree, these cheap shots at Garrett is ridicules. His team won by 2 scores on the road vs one of the top defenses in the league. I agree more work needs to be done but I will take 2 possession wins on the road or at home any day of the week. I know for some they can't come in here without slamming Garrett that is fine that is your view, I was glad to see Gruden giving Garrett props for last night’s game

People have to remember its hard to win on the road even if your the better team. Ask Pittsburgh, Denver....they lost road games to teams they are better than. Be happy we won!!
