Growing up as a kid..I wanted to be a Cowboy..

didn't every little kid want to be?

I had a 45 record that had this song and I learned the words..

Being a Cowboy is about being tough, being a hero..accepting who you are and living it.

To me..when the Cowboys came into the league they were the embodiment of that culture.

They were tough..

competitive..

ultimately overcoming so many things to eventually become identified with being winners.

This song I am posting is a song sung by the Cowboys 150 years ago rounding up cattle.

Every Cowboy knew this song..

mods feel free to move this thread as needed.

Enjoy.

Way cool..

love to hear one of your rodeo stories..

you must have a bunch of them.
I had to hide the Bull Riding from my Mom. Once she found out that came to an end. I did do some steer wrestling and we rode our horses in the Rodeo Grand Entries as they call them. We got a full day excused absense every May for a trail ride to the next town.

I got a week each excused absenses for showing livestock at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and the State Fair.

Finally I went to state in Tractor Mechanics contests and at the State Contest we opened for a Tractor Pull at the Will Rogers Coliseum.

Cool. Thanks. Good song.

It was a great way to grow up; although, there was an extreme amount a of work to tend to all the animals.

My neighbor and I rode our horses everywhere as kids much like most kids ride their bicycles or motorcycles.

I got thrown off a horse in the late 80's, my right size 15 got stuck in the sturrip. Got dragged for a bit and had to have a complete reconstruction of my ankle done. 16 weeks on crutches. Not very good memories, but I still ride.
