How are our failed players doing on other teams?

none of these played much except cleary.

The secondary clearly wasn't the problem last year. It was the pass rush, which was nonexistent. The defense last year was a lot better than what we've been trotting out this year. I think Claiborne is only on a one year contract, so maybe the FO can beg him to come back.

You can't keep everyone. Every team turns their roster over pretty heavy now each year. Out of all the secondary players we lost, I thought Church would be the biggest loss. He is an average starter but a good glue guy and I thought his loss would create a vacuum in the secondary. Although I did not have a problem with letting them all leave.

The problem with their moves is thinking Health could be a solid safety and not giving them solid fall back options if he wasn't up to the job. Or bringing in Carroll as a fall back at corner only to realize a mistake was made.

With teams turning their rosters over quickly, there are a lot of opportunities to snag veterans who fit your scheme and may be undervalued. Dallas has hit on some in the past but I think they are not good at this. They either don't think of the worst case scenario or are not able to find guys consistently who fit their scheme. What the Eagles did this offseason looks like a masterpiece so far. Dallas not so much.

I think it's already happening. He seemed to "show" more earlier in the year while lately I'm seeing him with that same look all Dallas CBs tend to get ... after the big completion.

Brown did this really well in his rookie year, but don't see him doing that at all this season. I really think, it's being coached out of them.

I agree. I think they are being coached to watch the wide receivers eyes and put their hands up when they see him go for the ball. This is why, IMO, they run through guys so often. The holding I think is a by product of loss of confidence. When you are trying to do something unfamiliar and not having success, you play "panicked."

Brown last year was a fill in and probably relied more on his own ability than the coaching. This year he's elevated and they are intent on "coaching him up."

So funny that I think the scouts probably see these guys in college and see the balls skills - its what they rave about in the scouting reports - then they come to Dallas and all you hear is "they never look for the ball..."

its a common thing. They got rid of marion barber and terrance newman and acted like they were garbage when they left too.
Stephen Jones is a poser. I think he is the guy that thinks they are the smartest guys in the league and sets the foundation for that.

I'm glad we got rid of Newman, he didn't want to play here. He gave low effort and let any little nick put him on the bench, didn't like to tackle while here and had bad attitude from insiders. Bit once he got cut, I think he realized he could find himself on the street one day. Sometimes there's guys like him that have to be cut

You’re not going to get many picks when you consistently play 10 yards off the receiver.

This wretched Tampa 2 means giving up short passes so that you don’t give up the big play, which means lots of 2nd and 4’s for our opponents this year.

It’s the scheme. It’s not cornerback friendly. They just sit back and then tackle.

It is rather amazing we seem to have a pretty decent front 4 now and our secondary just flat out stinks. I'm not sure we have anyone who would start for any top 10 defense in the league back there. BTW, did you notice no former Cowboy LB's are playing anywhere in the league. Tells you flat out that our Linebacker drafts have been pretty awful for lots of years.
