We hate on JG, some more than others and some even clamored for Jon Gruden. Why?

I don't know about the majority of Cowboy fans but that tells me that HC changes rarely change a teams W/L record. If it did, 20 or so teams would have a better W/L record than JG coached teams over the past 7 seasons because most of them have had at least one HC'ing change.

Faulty logic. The fact a coaching change doesn’t always lead to improvement does not negate the fact that good coaching is necessary for success.

With all due respect, it's not our job to determine who the next head coach is. You don't have to have the replacement lined up prior to coming to the conclusion the head coach needs to be replaced. People have given opinions on why they don't believe Garrett is a good coach. If you think he is a good coach, why not make the argument and list out why you believe Garrett is the still the right person for the job?

I can start off the list for you:

  • I think he is a great at giving motivational speeches
  • He does a really good job of supporting his players during the game
  • He is exceptional at making sure we are going for 1 after a touchdown
  • you fill in the rest

Truth which can be supported by fact. 23 teams have lesser records than JG, all have changed HC's, some multiple times, the reults have changed very little if any. Agree, good coaching is necessary for success from the bottom to the top. From WR coach, to RB coach, to OC to HC

can't say you aren't opinionated. lest we forget, the gm also plays a large role in a hc's success. to date, jerry's gm'ing has been a virtual blueprint for hc'ing failure. mcvay, shanahan, and Pederson all have better gm's. ergo, they will be more successful than garrett, not only for that reason, but the fact they're just better coaches.

That's true it isn't our job. I farm for a living, the furthest thing from football. I have no football job, my job is to balance the negative with a little reality. Haters don't want to hear that there are approximately 6-8 HC's with a better track record than JG. Sure give me those guys. Problem. They aren't for sale

Understood. Can I assume since Garrett had no real experience you were against the firing of Wade Phillips and the hiring of Jason Garrett in 2010?
 
Gruden has been in demand every offseason, a decade removed from coaching and still got the best contract ever. If Garrett were on the open market he'd get work as a position coach, no one would hire him as head coach, no one would make him a coordinator of their offense (maybe special teams).

We are literally stuck with Garrett because it would be a public embarrassment for jerry to watch him struggle to find work in the positions jerry handed him and promoted him to.

When Wade was fired he had lost all team support, The defense was dogging it, they lost the last three games of his tenure by scores of 35-27, 35-17 and 45-3. The team gave up on Wade. They have never given up on JG. I wasn't for or against Garrett. In fact i was a vehement JG disliker until 2016. I won't bother to say why 2016 changed my opinion of JG

There it is again. There's the "negative" description regarding facts you don't like seeing. And then there's "reality", apparently referring to your opinion on the subject.

So anyone who's tired of Garrett not winning is labeled a "hater". I'm sorry, but this doesn't ring true as something that comes from a self-professed "positive, optimistic person."

If anything it's the words of someone spreading negativity veiled as being positive.

Clearly contradictory.

Garrett has 2 playoff appearances and one win in seven years. If that’s acceptable to you, Garrett is your man, but your assessment should have little to do with the success coaching changes usually bring.

Edit: Nevermind, I see in prior comments what you're getting at. I have never devoted and never expect to devote the resources to pour over potential head coaching candidates for my favorite team. I personally, however, would take a waiver on an innovative offensive coach (ala McVay, Kyle Shanahan) - it's high past time to update this antiquated and unoriginal scheme.

In summary - at this point, I would rather take a chance on almost any semi-qualified assistant than continue on with Garrett. The known (mediocrity at best) vs the unknown.

With two more and numerous others who weren't. Try Pete Caroll his first time, Saban and Chip Kelly. I'm not saying that college coaches are bad coaches. They have to earn their way in to the NFL HC'ing ranks. And you used Switzers name!!! What are you drinking?

Now we're talking. Schwartz is a very good defensive coach and yes he could find someone to call the offensive plays. Apparently our HC does that though smh
