Who’s up for a reunion?

Wednesday marks the conference championship game participants doing the media rounds and getting ready to hopefully punch their ticket to Super Bowl LII.

When you’re not one of those teams, like the Dallas Cowboys, you’re focused on the future.

Part of the future for the 2018 Cowboys is filling out the coaching staff. There have been a lot of murmurings about so-and-so staying, so-and-so leaving, and so-and-so leaving to interview but ultimately coming back.

The Cowboys still have vacancies to fill on their coaching staff, and a new name is suddenly available. It’s been speculated that he would be for quite some time, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have officially parted ways with offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

Sources: The #Steelers are allowing OC Todd Haley to walk now that he’s out of his contract. Pittsburgh expected to have a new OC.

Back at regular season’s end, word of Todd Haley returning to Dallas was floated a lot. This was before the Cowboys went a bit all-in on Scott Linehan so the position of offensive coordinator isn’t up for grabs. Haley is a hot name and will likely be offered that position by someone, just not the Cowboys.

For those unaware, Haley served as the team’s wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator under Bill Parcells from 2004 to 2006. He is credited with helping to develop Tony Romo (as are other coaches).

No chance. Besides, Big Ben doesn't like him and he's a great Judge of character:eek:

Too many egos in Dallas already. This is a bad fit chemistry-wise

The Steelers offensive system is light years ahead of ours. The guy rubs people the wrong way but they put up 45 points on j'ville. Could only dream of having him running our O.

Haley just had some drama off the field,at a bar or something. Don't know if we need to roll the dice on a guy thats had a history like that.

He would instantly come in and be the best OC we have so it's not happening. Remember he took Warner and company to the SB with Zona as the OC.

JG would never go for it. He would be too threatening......

Haley is good, but is he REALLY an end all be all world beater? Is he that much better than Linehan? If memory serves,Linehan has a SB ring. He must have done something right. The guy didnt forget how to call plays. He got us to a 13-3 record last year with the very same play calling. In 2014 we won what, something like 12-14 games including a playoff win and it should have been ANOTHER win at GB. DEZ WAS ROBBED. I like Haley, but I'm just not sure he would make that much difference. Truth is our issues were player related last year, not coaching. Our best player on offense(ZEKE) was hindered by off field crap all year and was suspended for 6 games..and we never could recover from that. The other thing was teams were able to adjust to the fact we lacked Zeke and our lack of speed at the WR spot. So what we need is Zeke for the full 16 game schedule, and we sorely need a proven speedster at WR to take the top off defenses. Linehan and JG would look like coaching gold if we do that. Whether we draft a wr or sign 1 in free agency,JUST GO GET ONE !!Pass on Haley, for now.

What we better focus on is filling the coaching vacancies we have. Go get Kris Richard from Seattle NOW. Bring him in to be the assistant to Rod Marinelli...heck give him a fancy Title...just sign him! Let him coach the Linebackers and Db's. Bring in Ray Horton as well. Promote Rod Marinelli at some point to a position in the coaching box...like we did with Kiffin. If we can get Richard and Horton,we have a GREAT shot at getting Earl Thomas out of Seattle at some point.

Pass. He seems to piss everyone off... as much as the players need to gel I think the coaching staff needs to as well
He is also very bad at end of games
The Steelers have lost at least two games because they couldn’t manage the end of the game

True, but in almost all those games Pitts defense let them down...thats the real issue. Haley is a guy thats hard to like..its who he is. Not what you would call a people person..it would set Dak back honestly,in his development. SO PASS. But I won't go so far as to blame Haley for Pitts losses in close games where Pitt had the leads but couldnt stop anyone. ITS THE DEFENSES FAULT.

yea wouldn't want to break up the chemistry of this phenomenal coaching staff, could really lead to some 8-8 seasons

Lol... its the very fact that because we are a train wreck, that we don’t want to add Haley
