Witten insulted by Dez' comments?

True that! Dez never should have had the interview. Should have waited and let things soak in a bit.

He cost himself a TON of money.

Why did he say he would have taken a paycut? Now, teams are going to wonder why Dallas didn't even offer one. It's because they wanted him gone, that's why.

Don't think other teams didn't catch that. They are leery about him now, too.

I wonder just how much of a pay cut Dez was really willing to take.

If Witten wasn't consulted then either Dez was just wrong about the Captains being involved in his departure or it was Dak.

He called Garrett on Friday. The other guy he called was Dak. So my guess is it was probably Dak.

Of course it’s Dak and he’s lying about it.

Speculation..No one knows the details of what led to her calling the authorities. I can speculate that his mom was doing something she had no business doing & he was trying to get through to her & threw his cap & it hit her. She was probably upset with him interfering with her activities & called the authorities & said he put hands on her. Just speculation.
Yeah, except he turned himself in and was arrested. The court decided to drop charges if he seeked counseling and didn't get arrested for one year.

We will probably never know exactly what went down but its pretty clear it was more than one person that was against him. Whether any players were directly involved seems pretty unlikely other than Dak. If Dak expressed any frustrations, at any time over the course of his two years here, they would carry weight because like it or not he's the annointed franchise QB. Franchise QB's win almost all power struggles, even against HC's. Not saying he did, just saying the FO would weigh what they think his preference was even if they never outright asked him.

Either way, no point speculating. If facts ever come out, then we can make judgements as to who was right or wrong.

Dez can gripe all he want but the truth of the matter is the fact his performance has drop the past 2-3 years. He only have himself to blame for his release. There were catches he could have caught but drop. Bottom line is to handle your business so there is nothing to worry about.

C=Coaches Garetts guys IE his coaching staff, maybe it was the new coaches came in and offered an outside evaluation and stated it could run smother without dez plus save money and be less of a distraction. I doubt any players had even been consulted and it took this long because Jerry was holding onto it as long as he could and finally gave in...who know and frankly who cares..hes no longer a cowboy..

Yes it was an emotional outburst as was the NFC E comments, he will go to where his best situation to succeed and the best money intersect. GB maybe, my hope is the AFC go to team with an established QB that needs a 1b or 2 for 8mil 1yr show me deal..

Im sorry to see him go but its business decision and its really only year early , he would have been gone next season anyway as will witten i believe..

It was Bailey... That turd

Should go kick rocks

This!

This guy is a cancer and distraction since he joined the NFL. Even his mom wanted him to get punted away.

Ok the last point was a bit harsh i admit.

Anyways.... Fire him instantly!

Dez said himself as he was complaining that it was 5 guys sitting at a table vs. 1.

He's hurt. But that's kind of the normal thing when a team moves on. What did he expect, balloons, a clown and a punch bowl?

Congrats! You’re fired.

Seriously, all you Dak Prescott haters need to get a grip. As if Dak had a damn thing to do with canning Dez I can't keep my mouth Bryant. If any one is be called out on this I say it would be S. Jones, NOT Dak Prescott. Mr mouthy is the first to put blame on, he was degrading into more of a distraction on the sidelines then anything resembling a WR on the field. It's natural to look about and find a target to dump your self inflicted misery on, but bottom line here, Dez is guilty for losing his job, NOT anyone else.

George Dunham of The Ticket said he was at an event this weekend that Jason Witten attended.

Witten was asked about Dez' comments about the "Garrett guys" and "The C's" being behind his release. Witten said he knew nothing about the coming release and that he'd never been asked his opinion about it once about it by anyone within the Cowboys organization.

He also said he spent more time working with and hanging around with Dez than anyone he ever had, and these comments were completely out of left field. He said they've always had a close relationship.

I give Dez a pass to some degree because I know he was hurt and emotional. That's natural. But he never should have done an interview so soon while he was amped up, and he shouldn't be throwing his teammates under the bus unless he knows for sure what happened.

The only guys that wear the "C" are Dak, Witten, Crawford, Scandrick, Lee, and Bailey.

Reading this all it made me think of was T.O. and his blaming Tony and Witten for conspiring against him.

If you work hard enough to be the best, and they cut you, then you have questions to ask.

Maybe I was not talented enough. And maybe I made more than the talent I brought. Was I a disruption in the team chemistry?

If your first response is it was the fault of the leaders of the team, what does that say?

For T.O. it said adios. Maybe Dez too.

What it says to me is petulance, immaturity, and childishness.

It's largely the fault of Jerry Jones. Bob Sturm nailed this.

He's just like the teacher who passes these guys in high school and the athletic departments who cover for them in college.

Dez comes in, Jerry's annoints him the next Irvin, gives him #88, and tells him "my door is always open." What chance does a wide receivers coach have with that?

Dez has been coddled his whole life. Life is starting to smack him right in the face.

Guess what, Dez. Your next team won't have a Jerry. You gotta show up on time, learn the playbook, and know your place on the team. BY YOURSELF.

Good point, he was spoiled in Dallas.

I agree with this assessment, but look at Romo and Witten and Sean Lee and Tank. Jerry anointed them, and they still acted like men and took their jobs seriously.

I agree Jerry allows players to go around the head coach and that is the #1 reason the culture of this team is screwed, blued, and tattooed.

But the player's maturity and how they handle being a pro is at the core of all of this.
Michael Irvin was a prima dona, and some might consider his antics off the field as an indication he allowed this to go to his head. But he lived football and practiced harder than every other player. He earned his status with the team.

Dez is gone due to poor play, injuries, age and salary. The coaches and the front office decided he's not worth the money and asking him to take a pay cut could possibly cause problems in the locker room. I can just imagine the stories coming from locker room that Dez is pointing fingers at Dak and the coaching staff on why he had to take a pay cut. Better to remove the band-aid fast.

Given that Dez has reacted publically like he has, this is a fair point.

I agree he was coddled in the NFL and probably college and nfl too.

I wouldn’t call Dez’s upbringing as a child coddled though. That’s for sure.

Dez is an emotional player and when a stressful event happens, DEZ naturally letS HIS emotions come out and get caught up in the moment.

Cooler heads will ultimately prevail, but Dez will someday look back (if he hasn't already) on what he could have done himself to not put himself in this situation.

Fixed it

But that is still no excuse for throwing his ex-teammates under the bus. That exit is going to come back and haunt him more than his exit is going to haunt the cowboys. He may have cost himself a spot in the ROH to say nothing of a spot on another team. He just reminded everyone what an organizational headache he's been for the cowboys.

Dez's childhood was a disaster if true, and I have no reason to believe it wasn't.
