Rumor: Mortensen: Witten to retire **merged**

So someone gets a chance. I don't see changing the draft that much. A vet will be looking for a job at some point if we really need that. I'd look at St Brown ND WR who is a big guy and see if we can make him a hybrid TE. Draft one later R4-7 and bring a couple UDFAs to TC.

Jerry got Romo his gig so that he would retire, he is doing the same thing for Witten. Well deserved.

I've got an opening at my company for a receptionist if JJ is interested.

Witten is one of my all-time favorite Cowboys!!! I will miss him!!! :( I wish him well in life and in the broadcast booth!!! Can't wait to hear his speech in Canton!!

Yep. Completely selfish and self-centered. Actually believes he's special because of all the tongue bathing people do over him.

At least he didn't do this after the draft like others have done. I wanted a TE regardless but Stephen was just gushing about him in the PC the other day they seemed content.

Gonna be a fun year folks!

Forget him. What kind of middle-of-the-draft boggus crap is this after he had been saying all offseason that he was going to stick around until he's 40? He can shove it with such sudden reversal and timing.

Man you are cold. Guess I will be cold and put you on ignore.

I would agree there but I can't see how this wasn't already communicated in some fashion.

Perhaps not "hey I got a broadcasting job. I'm out.."

More like "Hey you might want to know that I've placed my name in the broadcasting hat & if they call I'm going to have to go.. be prepared..."

Or maybe he didn't really plan to go, but he was surprised with an offer he felt he couldn't pass up.

Sometimes life hands one an opportunity that has to be acted on immediately or it will be gone. It happened to me a few years back and I jumped on it. You simply can't plan for something you have no idea is coming your way.

Strange he waited to not believe in him until the draft. JJ must have known.
Before the draft, Goodell was introduced with "three former Cowboys."

Staubach, Aikman, andWitten.

Interesting.

For all of you who said that the Cowboys screwed over Dez by releasing him so late...I want the same hate for Witten.

HA! YA-RIGHT:lmao2:

Good frickin' luck in that EMPTY COLUMN OF LAME WANTITUDEo_O

If he believed in Dak, I think he'd wait on the TV gig.

He doesn't, so he didn't.

Maybe being up on stage and seeing Staubach's pass up close and personal, he felt he may be able to get more receptions in retirement.
