The Herd - Rating Dak

GUESS "Quinthy" Carter/Chad Hutchison and a slew of others looked better to SOME fans eh.... and Dak "the worst." lol....boy fans have short memories. Dak gets no respect hardly...damn guys.
@Cowboyszone a psychology degree is possible in five years and equivalent doctoral in abnormal psych in ten years if you cram .
Many are flying around the Cuckoo's Nest.

I think Fans dont accept that we can win with a good 3rd tier QB

In my opinion a 3rd tier QB is just good enough to play in the NFL but must have a decent level supporting cast. Bortles, Andy Dalton, Winston, Prescott, Mariotta

A tier two is a guy who can get you some wins in the regular season and has potential to go on a playoff run but needs a stellar supporting cast and some luck. Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson, Philip Rivers, Mat Stafford, Jared Goff, Alex Smith, Kirk Cousins

A tier one is a guy who is elite and can carry a team and makes big plays in big moments. He has a SB ring and defense fear him. Brady , Rodgers, Brees Rothlisberger

Dak is a tier 3 with limited potential to be tier two. I have to ask if this oline and running game make Dak look like an NFL QB then imagine how good Dallas would be if they had a tier two guy like Philip Rivers or Kirk Cousins.

When Dak started Colin hated him but he soon came around. He is not a Cowboy homer. If anything he's a Seahawk fan.

you should be able to win with a top 15 QB daks in the toip 15 and thats the upper half of the NFL and he can be better.. stop the FN excuses for the rest of the team, in years past the defense has sucked hard especially in crunch time right before he half and late in the 4th qtr, also players dodint step up like Dak and the WR core(yes it was both partys issues but till its fact a ton of dropped passes or bad routes), questionable coaching espeiclaly in game adjumstments and the ability to out chess match the competition when it counts, and the GM not seeing that we lack depth behind key players lIke LEE and Tsmith who are struggling with reoccurring injuriys.. this will cripple most teams without an Elite tier 1 QB.. what Have those tier 2 guys you say is better than Dak done with aweak team around them? Cousins he has numbers no wins to speak of , ASmith hasn't done much, and many others..

IT TAKES A TEAM TO WIN BIG GAMES IN THE PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS, PERIOD.. Daks plenty good enough to win should the defense finally stop relying on ball control takeaway offense and we get depth that we lacked last year..te defense blew two games last year that could have been the two that got us in the playoffs, forget about that 4game horrible stretch with the ridiculous timing of injury and suspension at the worst part of our schedule.. the Rams and GB game we were scoring and leading most of the game, the Defense BLEW it, period.. those 2 games were key to weathering the storm the rest of the season and it wasn't Daks fault we lost those or didnt have an answer at LT for the other stretch..Sure Dak had his issues but he was a 2nd yr guy who had the team blow up in his face, he struggled but again we can win with him..Next level crap comes from the rest of the team doing their job including the coach..

the cowboys did make changes and we will see if those moves work this year but stop acting as its time to draft another QB , its not give Dak his 4 seasons and lets see what happens..

LOL........you talk about Sample size yet you put more weight on 7 games with bad Oline play vs 24 games of incredible play as nothing.

I knew Dak was great when I saw him in preseason. I knew Romo was great in his first season. Any young QB needs seasoning.

Some fans know and some dont. What can I tell you. You want to nit pic, be my guest. We are lucky as heck to have Dak Prescott as a 4th round pick making 700k per year.
im supporting Dak, those numbers I was referring to is JGaroopolo hes at this point overrated and didnt deserve that contract nor does he deserve being thought of as better than Dak until he actual plays fulltime in real games and shows more than he did last year.. he looks solid but not 28mil good..if hes elite NE made a HUGE mistake letting him go given Bradys age etc..they are supposed to be smart the best in the NFL and they let there next superstar QB go to not hurt bradys feelings? sounds like acowboy move..

Dak's the best QB in the world. He just has to play with the worst offensive line, worst receivers and the worst coaches in the NFL.. Dak's a beast, war daddy, **********.

Anybody who doesn’t think Dak is at least tier 3 would just be ludicrous.

My personal opinion is that he already is a tier 2 quarterback. But obviously that will either be proven or disproven this upcoming season.
I agree 100% he should be in tier 2

According to one film review of every pass thrown in the NFL last season Dak led the league in "unearned" interceptions with eight. (Those are interceptions off receivers hands, on Hail Mary throws, on batted balls, when the quarterback's arm was hit as he threw, etc.). Matt Ryan was second with six, and two others had five. The average is two.
Awesome post !

You guys will forever be arguing over Dak because his ceiling is a really good player but not a great player.

Just accept that he's a good player that is limited. You can win with him. He's fine.

His floor is high and his ceiling is low.

Oh I agree. Jimmy is a beast. But I am just speaking of what’s been proven.

That being said, jimmy also has several more years in the league than Dak. Being coached by Belichek and learning from Brady.

I know some posters on this site like to pretend that a QB sitting for several years and learning from the sidelines isn’t helpful to a QB *cough* Romo *cough*, but to me I think it’s obvious that it is very helpful to a QB.
Wanting for a more elite QB and critiquing Dak doesn’t mean we don’t see his qualities and assets he brings.

Obviously in the right situation and surrounding support like in 2016 he can be successful.

Ultimately like most NFL QB the teams success will be the largest measuring stick especially in Dallas with our historied past where our all time leading passer was bashed for not having more team success.

That's a cool take on NFL qbs. Good points

We’re a fan base whose criticism forced our 1st great QB after losing two consecutive NFL titles into early retirement , then benched our 1st QB to lead us to a Super Bowl, bashed a QB who took us to 3 consecutive championship games and even bashed our franchises all time leading passer and we want to get sensitive about Dak. Lol

This is the type of naïve homer nonsense you see on this site. Its completely obvious that Garrappolo is a much more seasoned and better all around player at this time. Garrap will be one of the best QB's in the NFL going forward.

I have to chime in here...are you talking about Jimmy Garoppolo from the SF 49ers? More seasoned? The guy has played in 23 games in 4 seasons. He had a nice run towards the end of last season. That's nice but how does that make him "more seasoned and better" than a guy that has started in every game for his first 2 years, played in the playoffs, and won Rookie of the year?

You Dak haters do realize the guy was hurt in the second half of last season? That he got sacked 24 times in the second half of last season? That he had issues with his throwing hand? Do you guys get that? Garoppolo may end up being good but let's see what happens when DCs have some tape on the guy and figure out how to defend him. Garoppolo is NOT better than Dak Prescott. You guys are crazy.

I think 32 NFL GMs would pick Garoppolo over Dak. Well...maybe 31
