Talk after 2018 season is over.

I'd definitely prefer to see one more year of production from him before going long term. I feel he showed the player he could be the second half of 2015 before having his "breakout" last year. Still, he's had two healthy seasons and two not-so-healthy seasons (coupled with the suspension).

Give me another season like he had last year and I can live with Dallas doing whatever it takes to keep him.

I would use the franchise tag for this season as well as next season. D-Law has only proven himself for one season and I am not sold on his ability yet. I like what I am seeing , however I would like to see more considering his injury and prior suspension. Dallas does not need to saddle their franchise down with a bad contract.

Dallas will also have to figure out a way to satisfy Dak's contract as well. Dak's contract will be the elephant in the room.

Nope, Irving gets the franchise tag next year, not Lawrence. D-Law gets paid. And if it comes down to paying one or the other, D-Law is a much better football player than Quack.

Yes this and not only to make him show he can do it for more than one year but also to see if someone else steps up in a big way. Be nice to have a young player we are confident in that could replace him and at least have the option of using his money for other positions.

Price is only going to go up. Sign the man long term and get it over with.

We've been burned from both approaches. Optimistically I agree, but it is probably smarter to wait and see if he can do it again. If he doesnt play to the same elite level or misses time he will not command the same amount of money. Hes hanging his hat on a single year of elite production currently.

You’re that comfident he won’t get hurt again or not deliver as much a he did last year? I’m not.

He can certainly do it and I hope he does but I’d rather pay more next year and be sure of what I have than save money now and end up with a bust. We’re just getting rid of some of those bad contracts, we don’t need to add a new one.

Ok if he wants 5 years then put in a stipulation that if he gets hurt he only gets half of his guarantee or salary. I know that is far fetched and he would never sign a contract like that but he needs to prove he can stay healthy.
