Cooper Rush

Kellen Moore's lack of arm strength popped on tape, I feel like a good bit of his interceptions happened because of lack of arm strength. Vice versa, Cooper Rush has played in 5 preseason games and has yet to throw a pick. He's also thrown 7 touchdowns and even tonight when he didn't look good on tape his stat line was solid.

I don't know what media are driving anything about Cooper Rush (none that I've seen), but having seen the guy play in college he had a noodle arm then and he has one now. According to his draft profile, I'm not alone:

Lollipop arm strength allows ball to hang in air too long. Defensive backs with twitch have time to dart into passing lane and make interceptions despite a good read by quarterback. Struggles to challenge tight windows in middle of the field. Could be limited to timing-based passing attacks. Unable to make sudden getaways from pocket due to lack of athleticism. Strong pocket push from interior short circuits his plans.

SOURCES TELL US

"He played in the MAC, not the SEC. If he made some of those throws against NFL cornerbacks and safeties they turn into pick-sixes. He's a great kid, he's smart, but he falls below the minimum standard for arm strength." - Area scout for AFC team

NFL COMPARISON
Kellen Moore

That’s funny you think media is driving a narrative on his arm stength...

I’ve watched a ton of throws last year in preseason and plenty in training camp. Arm strength can be improved with proper mechanics. Romo lacked arm strength but improved it over his career but he always had a super fast release to compensate.

Yeow -- food for thought, no doubt. I appreciate the rundown on his profile. Rush's comparison to Kellen Moore is deflating, indeed! Apparently, his performance in last year's preseason amounted to little more than fool's gold. :(

I'm also sorry to say I missed tonite's preseason game upon falling asleep on the couch. It's a rude awakening to see his post-game comments to be sure. Ah, well -- back to that cruel, cruel thing called reality, I suppose!

His balls were more shaky in the air than a 90 year old Parkinson Patients Hand trying to give you a solid Hand shake.

Dude has a Noodle Arm. Brandon Weeden 2.0

Time to see Mike White

Mike White should be able to beat him out easily if he can read quicker. Having said that and the Cowboys usual crazy overlong Holding on their Projects they will probably let Cooper stay the Backup for 5 more years and Mike White will be gone to another Team.

If Cooper Rush isn't on our squad after final cut downs, somebody made a giant mistake and needs to be summarily executed.

The drop in line play of the second string was horrible. We better pray that there are no injuries to any lineman. The first team offense ran the ball at will where the second team struggled to get 2 yards, even let loose a wild snap that Rush made a decent play on. Any Dakbot should just hear the name Chaz Green and be silenced.

I thought he played pretty well considering what was around him and adjusted as the game went on. His arm strength doesn’t look off the charts but I don’t see it being a lollipop either. The guy pushed it downfield quite a bit and didn’t throw any picks

If i hadn't watched the game with my own eyes, reading these comments I would think Rush stunk up the joint. With the exception of the Gallop overthrow he looked decent, and adjusted better as the game went on.

Think you mean underthrow. He doesn't have the arm strength for an overthrow. I was disappointed only with his arm strength last night. Felt he read the field well and knew where to go with the ball. Maybe his arm is tired.

White is another story. He had zip on his passes, but probably thought he was back in college again. Our 3rd string oline just plain sucked.
