I've started my annual viewing of football movies, beginning with high school to college to the pros. First off all, I love sports movies. Really love baseball movies better than baseball and I did that in April but will get another shot during the playoffs.

I've got some real favorites this time of year like Varsity Blues, The Replacements, Any Given Sunday and Friday Night Lights but the perfect football movie for me is Remember the Titans. That's got so much going on in and around it, that it's the perfect sports movie. It is also the only football movie I will watch out of season,

How about you, what's your personal favorite.

A lot of good ones but Rudy, Necessary Roughness and Best of Times are my tops.
Best of Times is good and there's another that is really an interesting premise, Touchback.

I liked Rudy a lot better before he got busted by the SEC but Sean Astin and Jon Favreau were great in it. Astin is a baseball nut and was responsible for the making of The Final Season, a great baseball movie but tells a much deeper story of rural America. And any movie that has Powers Boothe, has me.

Yeah
Remember the Titans was excellent
The others 4 you listed were fun too.

I also like Invincible, Rudy and The Longest Yard

Brian’s Song was a great movie

Some are more dramas than actual football though

It is a film by the Affirmation folks so some will balk at that but When the Game Stands Tall is a very good story. And presents that problem actors encounter when doing a biopic. First time I saw it, I thought 'damn, was Jim Cavieziel sick, why is he so low key'? Then I found out, that's how the real guy is.

Great story about the longest win streak in American sports history, 151 games. It's not about the streak; it's about what happens when it ends.

Can't take Brian's Song but used to love that movie and the theme by Michel Legrand was what I used to hum to my son when I rocked him to sleep.

That's the other thing I love about sports movies, the scores like Rudy, The Natural , Hoosiers and Friday Night Lights. And Any Given Sunday and Varsity Blues had great soundtracks.

I'm going to have to check this out on my days off.

No "The Last Boy Scout"?

The Last Boy Scout. Not so much about football on the field, but good action.

Brian’s Song is not one that I re-watch. It was more for so e hete who mayve never seen it.

As for Soundtracks, I also like the oldies from Remember the Titans. Full of good so gs
