With the release of Dan Bailey, the Cowboys have $19.3 million in cap space, according to ESPN Stats & Information. There appears to be no news regarding a potential trade for Earl Thomas and early talks with Cole Beasley on an extension have not progressed. The Cowboys could carry over most of that cap room into 2019 with DeMarcus Lawrence set to be a free agent and Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott eligible to sign a long-term deals for the first time.

If it's not spent this year does it carry over into next year?
no but if you tie it up with longer term contracts now they count against it next year etc..they could essentially give a vet or another guy abig one year only deal like this year and use it if we have some needs arise this season..the cap is made up of current contracts but the cap is different each year as it goes up but what you dont use does not carry over..

And they haven’t done a single thing to improve the team. Seriously, all they are going to do is churn the bottom of the roster and keep Rush at backup QB? They deserve to have a bad year. People don’t want to hear it but money now rules every decision they make. Winning is not the prime directive.

Content with putting an average product on the field because the fans all still pay top dollar. That tells you right now that the franchise is content with being average.

And if they spent all that money on FA players you would whine they were over paid and we do not have any cap room next year to sign our own players. Or other players to get better.

can we not wrap our heads around the fact that 1) ET is not available and you would have to trade for him, that costs us draft picks and at the time they wanted to high of pick(s)

2) also would cost a LTC for him with big money which brings me to 3

3) hes up in age and not worth that at the moment, if he was a FA maybe the contract alone would be worth the risk but the draft picks and the money and risk of injury and production drop because of age, no hes not worth that.. unless we knew for sure he was the only missing piece to get to a SB..

I say with the pressure we will provide up front will cover up the back ends deficiency's and maybe make them look better..

Not it won’t. Not in cap dollars anyway. Not to mention they have $70+ million in cap space anyway and Dak isn’t a free agent next year.

Hes not but team like to sign players before they are free agents.

I say use the dollars on whatever in season needs might come up..after the first 1/4 of the season maybe we will see a trade is needed..

and that's the biggest difference. Jerry would spend money and Stephen is just cheap. Both extremes.
