Earl Thomas will report to Seattle today

Pretty sure the damage is done. He's only reporting to get paid, his heart is in Dallas. Keep an eye on Oct. trade deadline......
I really dont see the point in trading for him at that point.

We'd then get him for half a season instead of just one season and then pay him. That seems even less wise than renting for one seasons.

We should have pounced on the weal safety market. Sadly we didnt.

And reports out of Dallas from those around the Star said Dallas has had no discussions with Seattle since draft day,,I'll go with those around the organization over Schefter
Dallas' front office lies all the time to its local beat writers.

I suspect Schefter got this from Seattle and confirmed it with Earl's agent.

Now that we're hearing some seemingly-actual-news and not just conjecture on this (i.e., some specifics on what's been offered), I'm coming to the conclusion that, honestly, I'm not sure I want a player whose character is such that he's going to fail to live up to the contract he signed... assuming, that is, he just shows up to show up to get a paycheck, and doesn't go out there in 2018 just like he has in the past.

Strike that.

I'm sure I don't.

Last night I think I wrote that I'd be okay with sending SEA a 2019 3rd and a 2020 5th. But that was the fantasy league me, not the real world me.

Real world me is persuaded that sometimes allowing yourself to be tantalized by the fantasy in the short-term of being with that pretty, curvaceous woman is a really, really bad idea for the long-term... and the writing is not on the wall but written in big sharpie black on her forehead.

Thomas is not going to miss out on those game checks he will finish the season with the hawks and then move on to free agency

What?

What is your assessment of Earl's character and hoe could you have came to the solution?

The news thats come out is the draft compensation we offered, how would that affect character?

Is that the same agent who said "multiple" teams were interested in trading for ET as recently as last week?

I'm to the point where I don't believe anybody on this issue. If/when something happens, then I'll believe it.

Awesome. Looking forward to about 50 more ET threads between now and Halloween.
Or have self control like a normal adult and scroll past them. Thats a bit too hard for some one this site, isnt it?

But then I wouldn't get reactions from people like you. ;)

I'd like Earl in Dallas as much as the next guy, but if the reports are true and Seattle wants "a 2nd + change".. I personally believe that's too much. I also believe the stories are all smoke and mirrors at this point. I know ET apparently is reporting to camp and I suspect its bc he's not willing to leave money on the table, but that doesn't mean that a trade couldn't still happen. In my opinion, I dont think Seattle wants anything to do with Earl playing against them come Sept. 23 when Dallas is scheduled to play Seattle at home. That would be worst case scenario for them. You better believe the media hype for that game will be crazy regardless of which team ET is playing on. If Seattle is going to except a 2nd rd pick, I believe it'll be after that game.

That’s my thought too. He’s disgruntled. They don’t want that in the locker room.

That’s why Dallas should contact them one last time to place a deadline on that offer. After the deadline, a 3rd is all we will even talk about. Seattle is in the dark right now as to how his return is going to go. They may decide they got what they wanted and forced him to report so now it’s time to move on, take the pick, and not let it be a distraction.

earl is pissed @ the seahawks. "the disrespect has been noted" as he posted on his instagram. our best option at this point is free agency next season... i like our chances now.. atleast earl knows we tried...
