Dallas' front office lies all the time to its local beat writers.

I suspect Schefter got this from Seattle and confirmed it with Earl's agent.

If shefty got it from a Cowboy source, I would tend to believe it. If he got from a Sea source I wouldnt put a lot into it. Teams put out misinfo all the time. If there was another team they had talked to that had offered a 3rd that would probably be higher 3rd or even even 2nd, they could put out misinfo that Dallas uped their offer to a 2nd to get the change they want from the other team.

You act like Dallas FO are the only one's who lie and put out misinfo. It could very well be Sea doing it.

They are trying to get as much value as they can right now— but they are walking a fine line. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys have increased their trade offer for Thomas to a second-round pick over the past week but that the Seahawks are seeking more than that in return.

That's crazy. Seattle must be trying to resign him at this point. Other than that they should let him go where he wants to be.

Yep They all do, no GM is showing all their cards and will use the media in the process to their own benefit. Anyone who thinks Cowboys and Jones is a liar and all others are honest must be getting high. They all do it.

He is holding out because he wants the team to invest in him for more than just this season. This doesnt make him some malcontent.
He doesnt want to risk injury in the last year of his contract. I can understand that.

Well, he may not ultimately come, but it is obvious it wasn't as definitive as many people believed since the Cowboys kept trying to acquire Earl Thomas. The claims of Earl Thomas not coming here will turn out to be nothing more than getting a 50/50 chance correct. People thought the deal was entirely dead and ET talk was just beating a dead horse, but the horse was still very much alive and trotting around.

All 32 teams know he's a MAJOR game changer.

Many of those teams are good at safety already and not looking to spend there.

Other teams have no interest in trading for a guy who has made it known he wants to play for Dallas in 2019 anyway.

Again again... I don't begrudge him using what leverage he had.

Season's starting. I do begrudge him if he fails to show up in SEA and be the same player he was.

We agree that he is likely very mindful of Chancellor's situation and that that is driving this.

For that very same reason, it would not surprise me if he throttles back with regard to enthusiasm and effort.

And if it proves true, that's instructive as to whether we should want him on our roster.

He knew they planned to play him his final year like they are.
