The Seattle Seahawks finally have good news on a key defensive player ahead of the regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos.

Safety Earl Thomas announced Wednesday morning on Instagram his plan to report to the team, but indicated his displeasure over how his contract situation was handled.

"I worked my whole life for this," Thomas posted. "I've never let me teammates, city or fans down as long as I've lived and don't plan on starting this weekend.

"With that being said, the disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten. Father Time may have an undefeated record but best believe I plan on taking him into triple overtime when it comes to my career."

Other teams aren't meeting Seattle's demands because they don't want a one-year rental. They don't want to overpay to keep him from going to Dallas on a longer deal.

Lol yes it is since you're the only one that I know of that actually thinks ET will only accept a trade to Dallas. The only who thinks if a team offered sea what they wanted and what ET wanted in pay, He would say no, I won't sign long term unless it's Dallas. NOTHING has been said or reported that should make anyone think that, except you. If you can show me something to back up you theory, I would love to see it. If not, it's a theory to make your wish sound good. Lol

There are teams that I'm sure he would want not part of but if a team like the niners offered sea what they wanted and were willing to pay him top $, and you think he would say no, then I can't help you. There are other teams he would say yes to.

His play could fall off because he’s rusty and missed training camp.

He also wouldn’t be the first athlete to not play his best when his heart or focus is not where it should be.

Throw in the fact that he is the only guy left from LOB— and for sure— his play could fall off.

If that happens— Seattle loses all their leverage. No one would want to pay a premium pick and work out a long term deal on a guy whose play has declined on the field.

Would Dallas still be interested? Maybe. If ET just needs a change of scenery— probably. Players have personal lives and I’m sure this has been a giant distraction for ET and the team. Will that result in Seattle moving him? Anyone’s guess— but the value for him will never be as high as it is right now.

I don't see his play falling off because of attitude, skill maybe because age does that. Look at it this way, a great year nets Thomas a big FA contract and he can demand #1 S money if he has that type of year. A 2016 or 2017 year and he would be hard pressed to get #1 S money. He has every reason to perform to the best of his ability in 2018 for Seattle. Remember, Early Bird was holding out for MORE money. I don't see Early dogging it in 2018, that costs him money. Bottom line, both Seattle and ET benefit fro him having a great year. Just my opinion. The opposite opinion is valid too.

When I ask myself what I would do and I have a family, I put my ego on the back burner and play to my highest ability for 1 more big contract for the family. Most real men would.

Sorry, and I see what you mean. It does seem unlikely ET would play with any less gusto just to stick it to Seattle though. He may not like managment but he has teammates I imagine he wouldn't sabotage. Also he would still need to put good film out for the following offseason.

Regardless all that remains to be seen. He is holding out because that's his leverage. We dont really know how hard he is working on his own.

One thing is for sure, there is a mutual lack of loyalty in the NFL. Dont blame players for not fulfilling contracts unless you're going to blame teams for the same.

And he has a family. His hopes are for 1 more big FA contract. His best chance of getting that, play to his early standards pre 2016 and 2017. If it was me, and it isn't, I put my ego on the back burner for the sake of one more big contract and my family. If he dogs it or is disruptive, which of 31 teams wants a doggo or a disrupter in 2019. Cleveland? Da Raiders?

ET will play for Seattle in 2018 and play to the best of his ability. JMO We may have a shot in 2019 BUT 30 years old and how does he play in 2018 in Seattle
