As I stated numerous times.... He might approach $25 mill or greater

The only way that would happen is if the Cowboys front office bid against themselves. They have the option of the transition tag allowing the market to determine Dak's salary, that's the route they should go gives them the flexibility to match any offer Dak gets in the open market.

Read somewhere couple weeks ago the players whose about break the bank is Russell Wilson. He only has one year left on his current that will expire end of 2019.

$23M gets him in top 10; $28M gets him in top 5....JJ likes headlines (ugh)

"Cowboys extend Prescott, top 5 salary...." that would lead sportscenter and get ol' senile JJ in front of a camera

Lol! Carr, Eli, Flacco, Smith, Garappolo, Cousins, Ryan all making more money than Tom Brady. I assume Dak next contract is somewhere between Andy Dalton and Case Keenum.
If it is, Dak took a huge team friendly deal. Between Wilson and Carr would be my guess and wouldn't suprise me if it was closer to Cousin's

The backup Qb makes more money the starter. I guess that is what happens when your the MVP of the SB.

What's high one year is quickly an average salary in a few years with the growth in salary cap/rollover cap space.

Even if Dak got close to 28 mil, it will be quickly knocked down a few pegs once more QB's come up for their 2nd or 3rd contract.

Jimmy G. got a ridiculous amount based off a small game sample and that the 49ers had a **** ton of cap space to burn through.

He’s ranked 22 in qbr so why pay him like he’s a top 5, or 10 or even 15? http://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr

His paltry numbers don’t support the case for big money.

his agent will point to 2nd most wins since he entered the league. i understand the counter is zeke and the ol and def. i don't disagree. so what is the play after that. franchise and pay top money anyway? go get a scrub since we don't have a high draft pick this year and probably won't in 2020? i don't want to start over with the team built to win now. he isn't the greatest but he isn't bad either and has some room to grow. i'd pay him just below 25 and structure without a huge signing bonus that will hamper us from moving on if a better option presents itself or if he regresses and we can't win.

the QB fa crop in 2019 and 2020 isn't pretty imo. good qbs don't hit the market.

Thing is, you also have to consider the timing of the other deals, not just their amounts. Cam Newton looks reasonable now but if he was up next and at the table with his accomplishments as well as an MVP in his pocket, he would probably vault the right near the top. You have to at least think Dak is going to go in about where Smith is.
Honestly I am ok if Jerry wants to give Dak $20, $30, $50 million a year, whatever, just please make the contract easy to escape from.

If he has to stay at least get him as a bargain so we can sign enough good players on defense to win low scoring games

Glass half full?
