With this Defense, Anything is Possible

Regardless of what happens in the irrelevant Giants game, and regardless of all the talk about Dak and the offense not producing, we have exactly the kind of team that can go on a run in the playoffs and win.

Say what you want about Dak and the passing game, we have Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott, the lead's leading rusher and now Tayvon Austin, who has yet to play in the same offense as Cooper. Gallup is showing promise as a rookie.

Most importantly, Rod Marinelli has this defense playing like they want to win. And the defensive side of the ball finally has the talent and depth to help the team get wins.

It's not the kind of team we're accustomed to seeing, but bring on the disrespect and doubters.

These players love that. We are poised to turn it on just at the right time and win.

It's going to be an exciting, and surprising, playoff season for some of you.

and there would be no rodgers miracle vs THIS defense.

Agreed 100% - I’ve seen worse teams go on a run and win it all. Our defense is championship caliber and calling it now - Randy G. is a difference maker down the stretch.

Just a little concerned about the last 2-3 games. But they have some help coming and then after this (hopefully easy) Giants game, let's hope they shut down the Seahawks.

All the offense has to do is convert 3rd downs and they can get the job done
We will when we top 40% on 3rd downs
That allows you to keep Zeke running and the other team watching
This D can thrive when you limit the other teams time

It wasn't probable for us to beat New Orleans with our offense scoring just 13 points, but we did it because it was possible.

It isn't probable that we will go far in the postseason, but possible keeps us all watching and hoping.

With a better offensive showing this year, success would have both been possible and probable with this defensive effort.

I added more to it. With some teams, success isn't just possible, it's probable. We've had a few of those, but I can't say this is one of them.

That doesn't mean much. Success was probable for this team in 2007 after a great regular season and we all know how that went. It's almost better to go in with an underdog not expected to do all that much IMO.

The defense is being overrated. It's the 9th best unit in football by DVOA. So certainly a strength of the team....but the 85 bears they are not.

With the addition of a healthy Lee and I'm hoping a ready to roll David Irving, as long as everyone else plays their best, this defense will be fierce. Tavon will ONLY be a BIG impact if he plays from the SLOT. Let him do what Beasley does. He can use his quickness to stop and change directions like Beasley and then use his speed and turn on those jets for yards after the catch. I'm not saying throw away Beasley, just let Tavon have some of those snaps. I feel like his talent level deserves some snaps from the slot. We have been playing him on the outside. That was cool when Beasley was our primary receiver but now that Cooper is our number 1 receiver we can place Beasley on the bench for some snaps to allow Tavons speed to be a weapon from the slot or play them out of the slot at the same time on different sides or whatever. Tavon needs to play the slot period. His speed and coopers speed on the same field would be lethal . Tavon would get open just as much as cooper does if he can use a lot of field from the slot with that speed

Last year's conference finalists were 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th in fewest points allowed. The 3rd best - Chargers - missed the playoffs.

This year's top five, as of today: Ravens, Titans, Bears, Cowboys, Jaguars. Two of them have clinched playoff spots, two still can, and one is eliminated.

20 points, 2 TDs, 2 FGs is all we've needed statistically.
