With this Defense, Anything is Possible

Yep. I posted a thread a few days back. I can't recall the exact number but we're on something like a 14 game win streak in games where we've scored 20+.

Gregory getting hot, Lee healthy and chomping at the bit to play, etc. makes me think the defense is as good now as it has been that whole win streak. Indy was a fluke. Only big bummer is the T. Crawford question. That hurts us.

1) get to 3 offensive TDs
2) get there before the other team
3) ...
4) win games

That's the offensive key to this playoff run. Defensive key is just being the badasses they have been.

Regardless of what happens in the irrelevant Giants game, and regardless of all the talk about Dak and the offense not producing, we have exactly the kind of team that can go on a run in the playoffs and win.

Say what you want about Dak and the passing game, we have Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott, the lead's leading rusher and now Tayvon Austin, who has yet to play in the same offense as Cooper. Gallup is showing promise as a rookie.

Most importantly, Rod Marinelli has this defense playing like they want to win. And the defensive side of the ball finally has the talent and depth to help the team get wins.

It's not the kind of team we're accustomed to seeing, but bring on the disrespect and doubters.

These players love that. We are poised to turn it on just at the right time and win.

It's going to be an exciting, and surprising, playoff season for some of you.

I'm expecting Marinelli to get dementia and start out on the prevent defense the entire game.

If our D can keep opppsing O’s in check and make games ugly, we can make some noise in the playoffs. No, we aren’t a high-flying sensational type team this year, but we can grind out wins.

Obviously we have our flaws, but it’d be silly to count us out at this point. We can win the conference. The other teams have their own flaws and it looks like the Saints and Rams may have peaked early....

Regardless it should be a fun next couple of weeks.

It's cute that you can be naive about that. You're forgetting that the stripes are Packers in the playoffs games between Cowboys and Packers, and the Packers O-line is allowed to hold all game long, even riding defenders into the ground from behind without it being called. The stripes would also whip out the obscure rules booklet and call really shady stuff.... so there might be a miracle against this defense....if they played in the playoffs against each other. Something that isn't happening this year.

I don't even acknowledge a defense as being strong until they start getting turnovers.

We don't.

Yeah, turnovers have been the one lowlight this year. They're getting better now, averaging 1.5 per game since the bye week. If they had kept that pace all season they'd be just outside the top 10 right now.

We will when we top 40% on 3rd downs
That allows you to keep Zeke running and the other team watching
This D can thrive when you limit the other teams time

If we run the ball at our usual pace we need to convert 50% of our 3rd downs. I hope we throw the ball more early in the game, especially on 1st down. In the 3rd and 4th quarter if the defense keeps their safeties back, we can start pounding the ball.
