2 - Khalen Saunders (DT) - traits through the roof but is going to need some technique work. Believe he has the tools to develop into a great player against the run and pass, and will give us some pass rush juice in year 1.

3- Malik Gant (S) - If you haven't checked this dude out, do it! Brugler recently put him on my radar as one of his top 100 players and PFF agrees. Their top rated box safety who led all FBS safeties with 46 stops - ridiculous # for a S.

4 - Isaac Nauta (TE) - I've heard some talk about him going sooner, but I just don't see him as a top 100 guy. He might not make it this far, but I'd be surprised if a dude that doesn't have 1000 yards in his career goes much lower. That being said - underutilized in his system and good opportunity to buy low on a former 5 start recruiter. Solid, well rounded TE to compete with Schultz.

4 - Daylon Mack (DT) - Yes, I'm doubling down at the DT spot as we need to upgrade both starting positions and continue to try and build quality depth there.

5 - Penny Hart (WR) - quality slot option that will plug in as a cheap replacement for Beas.

While many may skewer your attempt, I LOVE IT!!!!! I’m with you in wanting Fat Boys (albeit athletic Fat Boys) in the middle of the DL that are bonafide run-stoppers first with the ability to push the pocket on passing downs. A trio of these 2 with Woods would be very good (and 4some if Collins can play a year without staying hurt). I want my DE’s getting the sacks. Nauta is VERY underrated....I think he’s gonna be a really good NFL player. Gant would easily replace Heath @ SS - much better tackler. And, we already know the team has talked to Hart.

As good as any although I do believe Saunders will be available late third to late fourth, small school guy normally falls especially with deep DT/DE draft of big school guys.

Me:
58. Renell Wren DT Arizona St - moving up the board, loads of talent and a game wrecker at 3T
90. Kaden Smith TE Stanford - reminds me a lot of Witten coming out of college
128. Joe Jackson DE Miami - not sold that Taco is every going to be a good one
136. Bryce Love RB Stanford - perfect compliment to Zeke and could use both similar to the Saints duo
166. Michael Dogbe DT Temple - another 3T but he and Wren can also play the 1T based on how Marinelli and Richard run the defense
243. Penny Hart WR Georgia St - small school and small size will push him down but great value in 7th round.

If Dallas signs Earl Thomas FS and Adam Humphries WR in free agency, it will change a lot of draft board mocks.

I would love that draft.
Saunders really intrigues....and Mack is solid.
would love the addition of Penny Hart to Cooper/Gallup.
Nauta is my TE of choice if we miss out on Irv Smith....he has some nastiness to his game as a blocker...and is a really good pass target.
not familiar yet with the S....a few I like are Mike Bell,Fresno St and Darnell Savage,Maryland.
A+ draft my friend.

2 DTs, a Safety and a slot WR... I'm liking this mock. Gotta go check out this Safety.

Last 2 small school DTs went in rounds 2/3 and I like Saunders over both.

I’m coming around on Wren - think he’d actually similar, great traits just raw. Like your draft as well.

Add in Greg Dortch as a slot option in the 5th if Hart isn’t there. Dude looks legit.

Good pre-combine Mock.

Gant is interesting. He is obviously a great hitter/tackler. The questions are all about his coverage ability. He looks like he can cover TEs in man reasonably well. They played 2-deep which limits how much area he had to cover. His coverage technique looked decent; although many of his plays in college would draw a flag in the NFL.

If run defense was king, Kavon Frazier would have been the Cowboys SS in 2018.

I’d say Gant is adequate is coverage. He has good short area quickness and will be be able to be solid in zone, but won’t be a sideline to sideline CFr.

Outside of 1st rounders, most S prospects usually aren’t above average against the pass and run.

Sounds like his best coverage work comes in man, especially against big bodied guys.

I could see him being a SS and taking on some of the coverage responsibilities BJ used to have in regards to manning up on TEs, before he moved to CB.

I like all the picks. I'd like a RB too

I’ve been back and forth in that.

A quality backup could provide some spark when Zeke comes off the field and help preserve him a little. Prettt poor class IMO though.

Do you like Henderson out of Memphis?

Saunders could be available in the 3rd or 4th with the deep defensive tackle class. Nauta will go earlier than 4th.

Disagree on Saunders. Talent doesn't slide too far, now matter how small the school.

The last 2 small school DTs were PJ Hall (57th overall) and Larry Ogunjobi (65th overall). I see Saunders to be better than both.

A good mock draft overall.
I'm glad you had the cowboys double down on dt and didn't mock someone like dremont jones or that kid from miami. It is beyond frustrating that the cowboys continue to ignore defensive tackle every draft.

I'm admittedly a big Nauta fan boy, however unless he runs in quick sand during the combine he is not going to last to round four. If he does, and Dallas comes out of the draft with that haul, I would do a Saunders backflip!
