You may remember this guy as an unusually tall (6’-4.5”, 226 lbs) running back playing for the Tennessee Vols.

He transferred to Baylor in 2016 where he made the position switch to WR.

This is a guy I’d be targeting in rounds 5-7. He has a ton of upside as a reciever still learning, but looks like a natural fit there; Sanjay Lal could be just what he needs.

As a former RB you can see the physicality as a runner after the catch.

I’d be much more interested in developing this guy to fill out our reciever depth than future security guard Noah Brown.

Would be the type of guy Im looking at on day 3. I see no reason to hand out roster spots to Brown or Wilson

I like Hurd, but I think we would have to use our 4th. Honestly if he goes before that, I wouldn't be shocked.

He's been criminally underrated. Nobody is talking about him.

I noticed Lance Zierlein has him ranked 10th at the position with a potential starter grade.

How does he compare to:

Despite making the change to WR, Baylor often had him lined up in the backfield and running the ball (48 carries, 209 yards, 3 TDs).

He could be a much more effective dual threat than what Austin has been.

This is a very interesting prospect. He's got height, length and juke. Very intriguing, indeed.

Side note: did you all notice the hit Kansas State safety Eli Walker put on him?

I was always intrigued to see how he would do switching positions after being a top rate RB in the SEC. I watched some of his games earlier in the process and really liked the way Baylor used his skill set.

I keep thinking a more skilled Cordalle Paterson. Hurd has position flex the Cowboys like, and can help more than Tavon in the backfield...just a unique type player b/c of his size. I hope no one mentions him, but NE is probably getting his jersey made.

I'm from Tennessee and many fans thought Hurd was better than Kamara.

The thought of a WR that runs with the ball like a RB tearing through opposing teams secondary's is intriguing.

I hope Hurd gets a good look and it sounds like he is.

Talented kid with some minor character concerns.

Good size at 6'4" and 227 lbs. Was a pretty good RB at Tennessee (589 carries, 2635 yards, 20 rushing TD) but lost touches to Alvin Kamara. Tennessee moved him to Tight End, he transferred. He ended up being a very solid WR. He still got 48 carries for 209 yards and 3 rushing TD at Baylor. Some have compared him to another former Volunteer Cordarelle Patterson.

He definitely checks the athleticism and position flex boxes for us.

from another article...

https://fansided.com/2018/07/13/jalen-hurd-on-track-2019-nfl-combine-workout-warrior/

Hurd squatted more than 500 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash consistently in the 4.4-second range, posted a 40-inch vertical jump and ran 20-yard shuttles of 3.8 and 3.9 seconds. For some context, as cited by Hayes, the best vertical jump at this year’s NFL Combine was 41.5 inches and the recent best at the combine in the 20-yard shuttle was 3.81.

All I can say is that you better know what you are getting.

He does not have game-breaking long speed.

You are buying the other traits.

He’s obviously not nearly as polished as a reciever as Keenan Allen, but Allen ran a 4.71 and 4.75 at his Pro Day.
