Dallas almost has embarrassment of riches at OL now (assuming health). Conner McGovern will compete for starting LG with Joe Looney. Connor Williams likely moves outside and back up La'el Collins and replace him after season. Key to all of this is getting Frederick back to his all-pro level. Redman likely doesn't make the team.

The only embarrassment is that we've invested all this into the OL and they're still mediocre.

Or, Williams stays at LG, Martin moves to RT, and McGovern steps in at RG.

I thought I read somewhere in his scouting report that he has short arms for a lineman. If that is the case then moving to T would not be a good idea. Outside rushers would be able to get their into him before he can grab them. Also when they go outside on him and bend low to the ground its is going to be that much further he will have to bend over to try and reroute them. You can't move good bent over.
Of course this all depends if my memory is correct....lol

I've said it for awhile now, we have no plans to pay Lael. Fwiw I doubt we pay B Jones either. I can handle those losses as long as we keep everyone else. Lael never lived up to the hype anyways. Although if we kept him at guard who knows how good he'd have been.

Why does he have to be better at RT?

If he can play RT at a higher level than Collins and this kid can play guard at a better than acceptable level– why not?

It is beyond idiotic to take a player that is playing at the highest level in football at a position and move him out of that position to RT just so he can be good....

You can find "good/great" easier than you can find a yearly all-pro. And all you're doing is downgrading the guard position - it's not like you're replacing guard with another all-pro.

It's just a silly thing to even consider unless injuries are so bad Martin is forced into playing RT.

I don't see McGovern playing at guard in place of Williams. Williams probably plays guard and then switches to tackle next season if they don't move another guy over there. McGovern takes over at guard next season.
